    Abstract: A filtration filter is suitable for performing cross-flow filtration by using a metallic porous membrane. A metallic porous membrane has a membrane portion for filtering filtration objects contained in a fluid and a held portion provided at its outer periphery. A first frame member and a second frame member hold the held portion of the metallic porous membrane there between. The held portion has a bent portion bent to a second principal surface side opposing a first principal surface of the membrane portion. The first frame member is in contact with the held portion at the first principal surface side of the metallic porous membrane. The second frame member is disposed at an inner side portion of the first frame member and is in contact with the held portion at the second principal surface side of the metallic porous membrane.

    Abstract: In an artificial defect material 10 of an FRP structure, a heat-resistant high-linear-expansion material 20 arranged between the layers thermally expands in case of high-temperature shaping of the FRP structure, so that a predetermined shape is shaped between a plurality of layers of the fiber reinforcing base material 14 and the material 20 thermally shrinks at the room temperature after the shaping, so that a space is formed due to the shrinkage difference from the fiber reinforcing base materials 14. The material 20 has a linear expansion coefficient larger than that of the FRP structure by a predetermined value or more, and has the shape keeping property and the heat resistance to endure the shaping temperature.

    Abstract: Provided is a composition for a lightweight heat-insulating material having high heat-insulating properties. The composition for a heat-insulating material contains a fibrous material, inorganic foamed particles, a thermosetting resin, and a foaming agent. Since the composition for a heat-insulating material contains the inorganic foamed particles and the foaming agent in addition to the fibrous material and the thermosetting resin, the weight can be reduced and the thermal conductivity can be lowered due to the inorganic foamed particles having low specific gravity. Further, the thermosetting resin is caused to foam by the foaming agent, and the weight can be reduced and the thermal conductivity can be lowered. A lightweight heat-insulating material having high-insulating properties can be obtained.

    Abstract: A Mach-Zehnder optical modulator with an output light monitoring function whereby emitted light from the modulator is monitored for controlling a DC bias voltage applied between a first and a second electrode provided on a first and a second branch optical waveguide. The end face of the waveguide substrate on the output side is obliquely formed and an optical waveguide is provided on the waveguide substrate for taking out reflected light from the output end face as monitor light. A photodetector for detecting the monitor light is attached to the side face of the waveguide substrate. By such arrangement, the length of the waveguide substrate can be made shorter than that in the prior art. As an alternative, such an arrangement may be made that a double refraction crystal for separating monitor light is attached to the end face on the output side of the waveguide substrate and a prism for correcting optical path is attached to the double refraction crystal.

Also provided by the invention is an efficient process for preparing such a gramineous hybrid plant wherein a protoplast is prepared from a callus or suspension cell of a rice plant (Oryza sativa), another protoplast is separately prepared from a callus or suspension cell of another gramineous plant, these protoplasts are subjected to cell fusion by electric treatment, the thus fused cells are cultivated in a culture medium containing cultured rice cells as nurse cells, and the thus formed colonies are then cultivated in a culture medium containing a plant hormone such as 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid.
