  • Publication number: 20050223558
Abstract: In order to detect the rotational speed of a wheel secured to a rolling bearing unir 2a with high accuracy, an encoder 19a secured to an outer peripheral surface of an inside end of an inner ring 6a is formed from a Fe—Cr—Co magnet. As a result, the magnetic properties do not become uneven depending on the position on the encoder 19a, and the rotational speed of the wheel can be detected with high accuracy.

  • Publication number: 20050163410
Abstract: A cylindrical liner 29 made from steel is inserted into a knuckle 3b made from a light alloy, when casting the knuckle. Then, an outer ring 6b constituting a wheel bearing unit is internally secured to the inner diameter side of the liner 29. The finishing-process of double row outer ring raceways 11a and 11b formed on the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring 6b may be performed prior to internally securing the outer ring 6b to the liner 29. Since it is not necessary to set a knuckle 5b, which is large and complex in shape, into processing equipment to perform finishing-process of the respective outer ring raceways 11a and 11b, it realizes a structure enabling a reduction in the total weight and the number of assembling steps, of the knuckle and the wheel bearing unit, thereby reducing the total manufacturing cost.

  • Publication number: 20050157968
Abstract: Rotation torque of the hub rotating together with the road wheel is reduced to improve the driving performance of the vehicle such as acceleration performance, fuel consumption. The opening at both ends of the space where balls 14, 14 are provided is covered by seal rings 16c, 16d each having two or three seal lips. The whole rotation torque of the both seal rings 16c, 16d based on the friction between the seal lips and the mating surface is reglated between 0.06 N·m and 0.4 N·m.

  • Publication number: 20050105837
Abstract: In a rolling bearing unit for supporting a vehicle wheel, the traveling performance represented by acceleration performance and fuel consumption performance is improved by reducing the rotational torque of a hub rotating together with a wheel. An opening at an inside end of a space where balls are placed is closed by a cap, and another opening at an outside end thereof is sealed by a seal ring having three seal lips. The rotational resistance of the seal ring is limited within a range of 0.03 to 0.2 N·m resulting from the friction between the respective seal lips and the counterpart surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20050058380
Abstract: The rotor of a braking apparatus is fitted onto a cylindrical positioning portion 19a, and in this condition, fixed to the hub 8a using bolts which are threaded into the screw holes 11a in the rotating flange 10a, and tightened. As the hub 8a rotates, the runout in the radial direction of the outer peripheral surface 20a of the cylindrical positioning portion 19a is controlled up to 15 ?m, to suppress the runout of the vehicle wheel. With this construction, running performance such as riding comfort and diving stability is improved.

  • Publication number: 20050045433
Abstract: Attachment holes 15 are formed in a plurality of locations in the circumferential direction of the attachment flange 13. The amount “h” of projection, from an attachment surface 14 in the axial direction, of the opening edge peripheral portion of the respective attachment holes 15 is limited to no larger than 10 m under the condition that studs 9 are press-fitted and fixed into the respective attachment holes 15. By this configuration, it is possible to inhibit the runout of the rotor 2 fixed to the attachment surface 14 of the attachment flange 13 and thereby inhibit the judder generated during braking operation.

  • Publication number: 20040250619
Abstract: The outer race 2 is fixed to the support hole 29 in the knuckle 1, and the constant velocity joint 6 is connected to the hub 3. The first seal ring 9 is fitted into the outer race 2 to cover the opening on the end of the bearing space 26. • Publication number: 20040197039
Abstract: It is prevented that magnetic foreign matter adheres the magnet encoder 3a to deteriorate the reliability of rotation speed detection with the sensor 4a. The encoder 3a is provided on the outside of the combined seal ring 19 with reference to the bearing interior space 24, and the sensor 4a faces the encoder 3a. The knuckle 21 is placed close to the housing 33 of the drive shaft member 28 of the constant velocity joint 27 to form a labyrinth seal 20. The width of the clearance of this labyrinth seal 20 is up to 40% of the pitch of adjacent S-poles and N-poles that are arranged on the detected surface of the encoder 3a. With this construction, larger foreign matter is prevented from attaching to the detected surface of the encoder 3a to solve the above subject.
