  • Publication number: 20020102879
Abstract: A shielded connector assembly having an insulating housing having front and rear parts, and female connector parts. Contacts are disposed in the female connector parts. A metal shell is attached to the insulating housing. The metal shell has a specified plate thickness and has grounding tongues that elastically contact mating male connectors that are connected to the female connector parts. A front shell made of metal is externally mounted on the front part of the insulating housing. The front shell has a plate thickness thicker than the metal shell and is fastened to the insulating housing by crimping such that it contacts the metal shell. A metal rear shell is externally mounted on the insulating housing from the rear part of the insulating housing such that the front shell and the rear shell are mechanically and electrically engaged with each other.

  • Publication number: 20020102880
Abstract: A board mount type shielded connector assembly comprising an insulating housing having integral tine holding parts. First contacts having first contact parts and first tine parts. Second contacts having second contact parts having a length greater than the first contact parts and disposed alternately in a row with the first contact parts in the insulating housing. The second contacts have second tine parts offset from the first tine parts and positioned substantially adjacent to the first tine parts in a direction perpendicular to the row. A shielding plate having a shielding surface extends in a direction perpendicular to the row and is attached to the insulating housing so that the shielding surface is disposed between the first and second tine parts as a result of the offset of the second tine parts. A metal shell is externally mounted on the insulating housing and positioned to make electrical contact with the shielding plate.

  • Publication number: 20010041475
Abstract: An electrical connector 1 for circuit board installation is provided using solder pegs 60 to reduce the mounting area. Mounting holes 40 for insertion of solder pegs 60 are provided, along the side walls 36, on both sides of the housing 2 of the electrical connector 1 to be installed on a circuit board 30. The mounting holes 40 are formed perpendicular to the circuit board 30, from the top wall 18 of the housing 2 toward the bottom wall 34. The mounting holes 40 are connected to the mating aperture 6 of the connector 1, and are opened to the outside via the bottom part of the side walls 36. When the solder pegs 60 are inserted into the mounting holes 40 and the connectors are mated, a mating connector is guided by a solder peg face 61 of the solder pegs 60. The mounting holes 40 are connected by solder to the circuit board 30 at the tip 62a, and the tips 62a of the solder pegs 60 serve as solder connection parts which can be visually inspected from the outside via the opening.

  • Patent number: 6305976
Abstract: An electrical connector (1) for circuit board installation is provided using solder pegs (60) to reduce the mounting area. Mounting holes (40) for insertion of solder pegs (60) are provided, along the side walls (36), on both sides of the housing (2) of the electrical connector (1) to be installed on a circuit board (30). The mounting holes (40) are formed perpendicular to the circuit board (30), from the top wall (18) of the housing (2) toward the bottom wall (34). The mounting holes (40) are connected to the mating aperture (6) of the connector (1), and are opened to the outside via the bottom part of the side walls (36). When the solder pegs (60) are inserted into the mounting holes (40) and the connectors are mated, a mating connector is guided by a solder peg face (61) of the solder pegs (60).
