  • Publication number: 20100005163
Abstract: A method of controlling an apparatus comprising a plurality of features and adapted to receive messages via a first network interface, wherein said method is implemented in a filter superposed on the top of an existing architecture of the apparatus. The method comprises the following steps: receiving network management message via said first network interface; interrogating said message in order to identify a feature said network management message relates to and filtering the received management message such that said management message is rejected if the identified feature is classified as disabled and said management message is allowed top go through if said feature is classified as enabled.

  • Patent number: 7555572
Abstract: A plug-in module frame has sockets (2) with at least one signal contact (7, 16) each for passing an information signal between the plug-in module frame (1) and a plug-in module (3) mounted at one of the sockets (2). A protocol converter (9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17) having first and second terminals communicates with the plug-in module (3) via its first terminal and signal contact (7, 16) ac-cording to a first protocol and via its second terminal according to a second protocol. Type detecting means (8) are provided for detecting a characteristic of a plug-in module (3) mounted in socket (2), which characteristic is unambiguously associated to a protocol supported by the plug-in module (3), and the protocol converter (9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17) which is connected to the type detecting means and supports a plurality of first protocols is adapted to use at its first terminal a protocol encoded by the detected property of the plug-in module (3) at its first terminal.

  • Patent number: 7447431
Abstract: An optical information transmission system comprises a plurality of optical transmitters and receivers, each having ports for exchangeable waveguides. Each transmitter has an input for receiving an enable signal assigned to it, and is adapted to generate or not to generate an optical information signal according to the status of the enable signal. A signal generator generates the enable signal whose status indicates whether the receiver is connected via a waveguide to a transmitter or not. Each signal generator is connected to one enable input by an enable control line wired separately from the waveguides and is adapted to generate the enable signal only after a test signal specific for each receiver has been received at its waveguide port. A description of the specific test signal of a receiver is transmitted to the associated transmitter.
