  • Publication number: 20120304197
Abstract: A distributed instance system manages instances and communications between the instances. The distributed instance system provides a restricted set of communication methods to the instances. Based on the type of communication method used, the distributed instance system has knowledge of the messages sent by instances and can make decisions on how to handle the messages. When one of the instances involved in a message exchange ends, the host uses its knowledge of the message exchange type to determine whether to drop the message, drop a reply to the message, and/or send an error message to the surviving instance. An instance may create one or more child instances in a tree-like configuration. Status data is passed up the tree from children instances and aggregated in the parent instances. Monitoring data may be generated from the aggregated status data.

  • Publication number: 20090094630
Abstract: A computer readable medium is disclosed containing a computer program useful for performing a method for estimating an audience reaction to a data stream, the computer program comprising but not limited to instructions to send data containing a plurality of filter objects data to a plurality of filtered sensors associated with end user devices, instructions to receive response data from the filtered sensor in response to the data stream in accordance with the plurality of filter objects and instructions to estimate an audience reaction to the video data from the response data. A system is disclosed including a processor for performing a method for estimating an audience reaction to video data. A data structure is disclosed for containing data useful for performing the computer program and method.

  • Publication number: 20050198335
Abstract: A method and system for distributing work load in a cluster of at least two service resources. Depending upon the configuration, a service resource may be an individual process, such as a single instance of a computer game, or a node on which multiple processes are executing, such as a Server. Initial connection requests from new clients are directed to a single entry-point service resource in the cluster, called an intake. A separate intake is designated for each type of service provided by the cluster. The clients are processed in a group at the service resource currently designated as the intake to which clients initially connected, for the duration of the session. Based upon its loading, the current intake service resource determines that another service resource in the cluster should become a new intake for subsequent connection requests received from new clients. Selection of another service resource to become the new intake is based on the current work load of each resource in the cluster.

  • Publication number: 20050064451
Abstract: The invention relates to compositions, methods and kits for the PCR-based detection of bacterial species. Methods are provided for increasing the specificity of a PCR-based bacterial assay. More specifically, primer sets and PCR-based assays are provided that amplify and detect conserved 16S rRNA gene sequences from multiple Mycoplasma species. The invention also provides kits for performing those assays, and compositions comprising oligonucleotide primers useful in those assays.
