Patent number: 10406250Abstract: We have developed a model system of HIV reservoirs in neural cells by generating chimeric phosphorothioate-modified oligodeoxynucleotides (sODN) that specifically interact with neural cell DNA or RNA, and that further comprise a sequence of the HIV genome. In particular, we have conjugated the chimera sODN to a delivery vehicle (e.g. a superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticle (SPIO)) and have demonstrated specific delivery to neural cells, in vitro and in vivo. These model systems can be used to screen for agents that specifically target latent viral infection. In particular, using the model system, we have developed suicide MRI contrast agents that can be used to reduce the number of neural cells which harbor the virus, also provided herein. Our model system is translatable to other latent viruses as well.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2014Date of Patent: September 10, 2019Assignee: The General Hospital CorporationInventor: Philip K. Liu

Patent number: 10329132Abstract: The elevating lift with a stabilized movable base includes a base with extendable legs that provide minimum to maximum adjustable stability during use and transport. A lift system is mounted on the base, and a platform assembly is mounted on top of the lift system for selective raising or lowering. Each extendable leg supports a caster, rendering the base movable, and selective extension and retraction of the legs adjusts the stability of the lift. The plurality of legs can be further driven to simultaneously rotate about the vertical axis to steer the lift. The stabilized movable base is further alternatively used in combination with a stool, providing minimum to maximum stability during use and transport of seating, and multiple elevating lifts may be used to support linked platform assemblies in various configurations.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2018Date of Patent: June 25, 2019Inventors: Kan Cui, Margaret K. Liu, Samuel K. Liu

Patent number: 10175282Abstract: A power distribution unit including a base, at least one socket, and at least one detecting unit is provided. The socket is disposed at the base and has a power end and a ground end. The detecting unit is disposed at the base and comprises at least two switches in communication with an AND gate. Communication between a plug and the socket is detected utilizing the AND gate. A voltage signal is output responsive to the detected communication. More specifically, a first voltage signal is output responsive to detection of receipt of both the power end and the ground end by the socket and/or receipt of the ground end by the socket and absence of the power end. A second voltage signal is output responsive to receipt of the power end by the socket and absence of the ground end.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2017Date of Patent: January 8, 2019Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Wei T. Patent number: 10041572Abstract: The radially engaging coupling system comprises numerous embodiments for connecting two or more concentric components with radially extending or retracting bolts. Most embodiments include a ring having a plurality of Archimedean spiral slotted segments. Each bolt has a pin extending laterally therefrom to engage a corresponding slot in the ring. Rotation of the ring drives the pins and their bolts outward or inward to engage or disengage an outer component. Some embodiments have inwardly or outwardly spaced pin passages in the ring, rather than the spiral slots. The disc may comprise a snap ring. Another embodiment has two axially spaced spirally slotted rings, with a plurality of cylindrical rollers therebetween. Rotation of the rings drives the rollers inward or outward to engage corresponding axial grooves in the inner shaft. In another embodiment each bolt has an arcuate segment extending thereacross, to engage a corresponding circumferential groove in an outer component.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2015Date of Patent: August 7, 2018Inventors: Kan Cui, Margaret C.
