    Abstract: A comparator includes a plurality of switches, a capacitor, an amplifier, and a latch. The switches provide an input signal during a first period and provide a reference signal during a second period. A first switch among the switches is composed of a first transistor. The capacitor receives the input signal during the first period and receives the reference signal during the second period. The amplifier is coupled to the capacitor for receiving a difference voltage between the input signal and the reference signal and amplifies the difference voltage during the second period to generate an amplified result. The determining circuit provides a digital signal according to the amplified result.

Of which, the extruded metallic carrier has a carrier's top-face and plural heat-dissipating tunnels with an accommodation sink being formed on the carrier's top-face; both the reflector sheet and the light source are deposited in the accommodation sink with the former being situated under the latter; the diffuser plate is situated above the light source. The extruded metallic carrier according to the invention not only maintains the overall evenness of the backlight module but also dissipates the heat outside, hence preventing the diffuser plate from being caved in and deformed due to a high temperature and improving the luminance quality of the backlight module.

    Abstract: A signal process device and method is provided to obtain a wobble signal from a set of retrieved signals. The signal process device comprises: an RF amplifier, band-pass filter, and a feedback control module. The RF amplifier generates a mix signal by synthesizing the set of retrieved signals reflected from an optical information recordable medium. The band-pass filter generates a transient-state wobble signal by performing band-pass filtering on the mix signal based on a target frequency. The feedback control module provides that target frequency by receiving the transient-state wobble signal and performing phase-locked loop and frequency dividing operations thereon. The feature and characteristic of the invention resides especially on repeatedly amending the target frequency via the feedback control module. In this setting, the band-pass filter is able to perform band-pass filtering on the mix signal based on the amended target frequency and obtain the desired wobbly signal.

    Abstract: A low-complexity spatial downscaling video transcoder and method thereof are disclosed. The transcoder comprises a decoder having a reduced DCT-MC unit, a DCT-domain downscaling unit, and an encoder. The decoder performs the DCT-MC operation at a reduced-resolution for P-/B-frames in an MPEG coded bit-stream. The DCT-domain downscaling unit is used for spatial downscaling in the DCT-domain. After the downscaling and the motion vectors re-sampling, the encoder determines the encoding modes and outputs the encoded bit-stream. Compared with the original CDDT, this invention can achieve significant computation reduction and speeds up the transcoder without any quality degradation.
