  • Publication number: 20050216911
Abstract: Multiple remote computers, a PXE server, a DHCP server, and a deployment server are connected to a network. An administrator assigns certain remote computers to be employed, and these computers are rebooted in a network boot mode. Afterwards, a client program is downloaded to each of these remote computers from the PXE server with the help of the DHCP server. These client programs start to communicate with the deployment server for receiving a series of multicast deployment packets. These client programs use the contents in the deployment packets to build a system environment for these remote computers. Disk images, configurations of BIOS and CMOS of these remote computers are backed up in the deployment server in advance so that these remote computers can be employed efficiently when necessary.

  • Publication number: 20050198203
Abstract: A three-tier architecture is utilized for controlling a plurality of remote computers in both text mode and graphic mode. System Management Servers (SMS) are placed between browsers and the remote computers. Firstly, users select one remote computer via the browser. The browser communicates with the SMS, and then the SMS communicates with the selected remote computer via an out-of-band channel. Correspondingly, the selected remote computer redirects its text console data to the browser. IP address is also obtained via the three-tier architecture and then users utilize the browser to access a graphic server of the selected remote computer according to the IP address for controlling and monitoring the remote computer.

  • Publication number: 20050081084
Abstract: An apparatus of remote server console redirection is described. The apparatus provides multi-managers to control remote server computers simultaneously. The apparatus includes at least one monitoring computer and a console redirection proxy service server (CRPSS). The monitoring computer executes a browser program and assigns a remote server computer to be controlled. The CRPSS determines whether the assigned remote server computer is on monitoring. If the assigned remote server computer is on monitoring, the CRPSS directly sends display images of the assigned remote server computer to the monitoring computer. If the assigned remote server computer is not on monitoring, the CRPSS issues a console redirection command and a reboot command to the assigned remote server computer. Therefore, the display images of the assigned remote server computer are sent to the monitoring computer by way of the CRPSS.
