  • Publication number: 20130197706
Abstract: A system and method for minimizing load shed during restoration after a fault in a power distribution network includes collecting customer prioritization data for a set of customers and calculating an inconvenience factor from the customer prioritization data on each customer in the set of customers. A load reduction required for restoration is determined, and at least one zone to be isolated from the power distribution network based the load reduction and the inconvenience factor is identified. The identified zone may then be isolated from the distribution network. The customer prioritization data may include customer priority data, customer load data, customer back-up device data, customer available back-up time, data related to willingness of customer to use their back-up device.

  • Publication number: 20130197702
Abstract: A system and method of determining priorities for restoration of power in a power distribution system includes collecting customer prioritization data for a set of customers. An inconvenience factor is determined from the customer prioritization data for each customer. A zone restoration factor is then determined from the inconvenience factor for each customer. The inconvenience factor takes into account the estimated outage time, the customer's back-up time, the willingness of the customer to use back-up devices, and customer's priority for the estimated outage time.

  • Publication number: 20130154793
Abstract: A request for an acknowledgement using a private key may be generated and transmitting to a customer device. The acknowledgement may be received from the customer device and verified using a public key associated with a customer operating the customer device. A request for a current location of the customer device may be transmitted and the current location may be received. A determination that the current location is proximate to a meter may be made, and, in response to determining that the current location is proximate to the meter, the meter may be manipulated.

  • Publication number: 20120316192
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel substituted indolo[2,3-a]quinolizines and stereoisomeric forms thereof and/or pharmaceutically acceptable salts of these compounds as well as pharmaceutical compositions containing at least one of these substituted indolo[2,3-a]quinolizines together with pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, excipient and/or diluents. Said novel substituted indolo[2,3-a]quinolizines have been identified as useful for the prophylaxis and treatment of cancer by the induction of strong mitotic delays, chromosomal misalignments and mitotic tri- and multipolarization leading to cell cycle stop and apoptosis. Furthermore a synthesis for preparation of the substituted indolo[2,3-a]quinolizines is disclosed in the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20090254492
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for quantitatively estimating a value of a given process, such as an IT service management process. For example, a computer-implemented method for estimating a value based on a complexity analysis of a given process comprises a computer performing the following steps. A context for the given process is identified. A baseline for the given process is quantified. The process baseline comprises a key performance indicator and an underlying complexity measure. An improvement measure for the given process is determined. The improvement measure is achieved by at least one of a tooling deployment or a process transformation. A value derived for the given process is estimated based on the context identifying, baseline quantifying, and improvement determining steps.

  • Patent number: 7031162
Abstract: Disclosed is a cooling structure which has individual spreaders or caps mounted on the chips. The thickness of the high power spreader or cap exceeds the thickness of the lower power spreaders to ensure that the high power spreader achieves the highest plane and mates to a heat sink with the smallest interface gap. The variable and higher gaps between the lower power spreaders and the heat sink base are accommodated by compressible thermal pad or grease materials.

  • Publication number: 20050209880
Abstract: An integrated healthcare network provides a clinical documentation functionality fully integrated with a financial tracking functionality. The integrated healthcare network provides a fully flexible and customizable clinical documentation capability. This allows healthcare providers to accommodate various needs which arise during the course of diagnosing and treating individual patients. The financial tracking functionality provides for the accounting and management of expenses incurred and revenues generated during the course of the healthcare provided. The integrated healthcare network establishes a relational system which provides information across the entire system.

  • Patent number: 6317255
Abstract: Automatic reduction of optical signal power supplied by an upstream network element by a prescribed amount is achieved by capturing and processing reflected optical energy that is generated within the optical fiber path as a result of a downstream fiber cut, open connector, or other potentially hazardous discontinuity. Generally, the power level of the reflected optical signal is detected and measured in the optical fiber path and the optical signal power supplied by the upstream network element is automatically reduced. The optical signal power may either be reduced by an amount corresponding to the measured reflected optical signal power or may be completely shut off until the faulty condition is resolved.

  • Patent number: 6246667
Abstract: A restoration procedure for use in bidirectional multiplex section-switched ring transmission systems re-establishes a connection path by using a loopback connection at nodes bordering the failure and by then establishing a jumpered connection path, for each active tributary affected by the failure. The jumpered connection path at affected node eliminates any unnecessary loop formed in the re-established connection path caused by the loopback connection at the border nodes. There is stored in memory at each node (1) the provisioned connection path, (2) the jumpered path, and (3) a jumper flag is set indicating that a jumper connection exists. When the failure is cleared the (1) jumpered path is removed and its record erase from memory, (2) the provisioned connection path is restored, and (3) the jumper flag is reset. Advantageously, the this operation can be programmed into existing node controllers and is compatible with existing restoration procedures.

  • Patent number: 5666325
Abstract: A dispensing system includes a robot that controls the positional location of a dispenser that dispenses a bead of material, such an adhesive, onto a substrate and wherein a sensor monitors the geometric configuration of the material dispensed. The dispensing system also includes a control circuit which receives information from the sensor so as to monitor geometric characteristics such as height, width and cross sectional area in such a manner that statistical process data can be gathered and also to provide alarm indications whenever the height or width of the bead do not comply with predetermined characteristics. The control circuit also provides a closed loop feedback system so that the supply of material and the nozzle can be controlled in such a manner to modify the flow of bead material whenever a discrepancy or error is detected by the control circuit.

  • Patent number: 5540946
Abstract: A dispensed bead (10) of material is disposed between a sensor pair (14) for monitoring the bead. The sensor pair (14) transmits a beam of light towards the bead of material. A signal is generated which corresponded to the amount of light received. By utilizing this signal, gaps or other discontinuities can be found. This signal can also be used to determine the height of the bead and generate a profile thereof. The signal can be used in a closed loop feedback control system to control the amount of material dispensed from the dispenser.
