  • Publication number: 20150164057
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a fishing reel having a hybrid clutch. The clutch controls rotation of a spool such that when casting a fishing line, the rotation of the spool is not restricted, and only when a handle is rotated to reel in the fishing line is the rotation of the spool restricted so that the spool can be rotated only in the direction in which the fishing line is reeled in. For this, the fishing reel includes: an integrated clutch unit including a clutch link coupled to the clutch bar, and a clutch cam connected to the clutch link and rotated around a shaft of the spool; and a ratchet pawl coupled to the clutch cam by a hinge and selectively coming into contact with a ratchet provided on a rotating shaft of the handle depending on rotation of the clutch cam, thus controlling the rotation of the spool.

  • Patent number: 6964387
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for preventing backlash of a spool used in a baitcasting reel. A movable cam 20 assembled to a stationary cam 10 secured to a spool shaft movesin a direction parallel with the spool shaft, when a revolution of the spool is increased. A braking plate 30 approaches a permanent magnet 2a of a spool cover, so that the spool is smoothly and precisely braked.

  • Patent number: 6955315
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for preventing backlash of a spool used in a baitcasting reel, in which the number of brake shoes can be optionally adjusted. The position of the shoe is selected between protruded guides of a shoe holder so as to apply braking force, so that the backlash of the spool is precisely controlled, without decreasing the carry distance of casting.
