  • Patent number: 5204724
Abstract: When a plurality of document sheets are sequentially transported by a belt to a document scanning area facing an optical scanning means, a clearance is formed between the belt and the document scanning area on the upstream side with respect to the document transporting direction. When a document is positioned in the document scanning area, a succeeding document is preliminarily transported until the leading edge thereof enters the clearance and contacts the belt. As a result, when the belt is driven to discharge the scanned document from the document scanning area, the succeeding document is quickly transported to the document scanning area. The time required for document transportation can thus be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5203554
Abstract: A document fed from a document loading tray is first transported into one branch transport path for invention of the transporting direction thereof, and then is guided through the other branch transport path and transported on to a document scanning area. In this process, when the trailing edge of the inverted document has passed the branching point between the two transport paths, the feeding of a succeeding document toward said one transport path is initiated. Also, when the trailing edge of the inverted preceding document has passed the branching point, the transportation of the preceding document is temporarily stopped, during which time the transporting direction of the succeeding document is inverted. This allows the succeeding document to be brought close to the preceding document. At this time also, the feeding of a further succeeding document may be initiated.

  • Patent number: 5046068
Abstract: In testing the fault handling function of a multi-processor system including a master processor, a slave processor, a storage control unit shared by these processors, and a service processor, the master processor and the slave processor cooperate to synchronize with each other issuing to the storage control unit successive storage access requests all designating the same storage area. The master processor also requests the service processor to generate a pseudo-fault in the above-mentioned storage area while these access requests are being successively issued in synchronism. Upon detecting a fault, the master processor collects and examines fault information, and outputs it when an abnormal result is detected.

  • Patent number: 4998285
Abstract: Each row of characters is extracted from document data representing rows of characters by a character row extracting circuit. The characters are separated from the row by a character separating circuit. In a reference line detecting circuit two histograms are formed, one pertaining to the upper sides of the rectangles bordering the extremities of the characters, and the other pertaining to the lower sides of these rectangles. Two reference lines are defined from the histogram. The characters are sorted intoseveral categories, in accordance with their sizes and the positions they take with respect to the reference lines. The pattern of each character is compared with the dictionary patterns of the same category.

  • Patent number: 4973974
Abstract: An A/D converting device includes an A/D converting section having a plurality of A/D converters arranged in multi-stages. The device further has a reference data generator, a correction value memory and a controller. The data generator sequentially generates pairs of a plurality of reference analog values and reference digital values. The memory is accessed using the digital output of the first stage A/D converter. The controller has a correction mode and an application mode. In the correction mode, the controller executes such a control as to supply the reference analog values to the A/D converting section and write into the memory a difference between an digital output value of a succeeding stage A/D converter and the reference digital values corresponding to the digital output value.

  • Patent number: 4947172
Abstract: A digital/analog conversion circuit including plurality of digital/analog converters, a signal synthesizing circuit and a data converting section. The digital/analog converters convert their digital data to corresponding analog signals. The signal synthesizing circuit additively synthesizes respective outputs of the digital/analog converters in a predetermined synthesizing ratio. The data coverting section is provided at an input side of at least one of the digital/analog converters to convert input digital data to data for correcting errors emerging from the output of the signal synthesizing means due to errors among the digital/analog converters and to supply the correcting data to the following digital/analog converter.

  • Patent number: 4924383
Abstract: A method for measuring performance of a multiprocessor having a plurality of processors and a resource shared by the processors. A master processor extracts, from an external unit, variable measurement data for creating a competition state in which the common resource is accessed by the master processor and other slave processors, and sets operation environment of the master processor and the slave processors. The master processor activates the slave processors and the master processor operates in synchronism with the slave processors to create the competition state. The master processor measures an instruction execution time under the competition state to measure the performance.
