  • Patent number: 11212019
Abstract: Techniques described herein permit a narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) user equipment (UE) to combine narrowband reference signals (NRS) with other signals, which the NB-IoT UE already receives, to improve measurement accuracy. The UE may report whether the UE is capable of combining the NRS with another signal to determine a combined signal quality parameter, and may report the combined signal quality parameter to a base station.

  • Patent number: 11206658
Abstract: A narrowband apparatus determines a set of monitored resource blocks (RBs) on a subframe for monitoring for CRS from a base station may monitor for the CRS from the base station on the subframe based on the set of monitored RBs. The base station determines a bandwidth for transmitting the CRS to a user equipment, the bandwidth being less than a system bandwidth and transmits the CRS to the UE using the determined bandwidth. The UE monitors for the CRS on a set of monitored RBs. The set of monitored RBs may include a center set of resource blocks and a number of resources blocks around a center frequency on a subset of subframes. The center set of resource blocks may have a size based on a bandwidth capability of the UE and a system bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 11201658
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may enable adaptive receive diversity (RxD) by receiving an indicator for a channel occupancy time (COT), outside of the COT and in a non-RxD mode, and may transfer to the RxD mode for reception during the COT. After an end to the COT, the UE may return to the non-RxD mode. In this way, the UE enables improved power gain, diversity gain, or spatial nulling gain during a COT, and enables reduced power utilization outside of the COT.

  • Publication number: 20210376983
Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to communicating positioning reference signals (PRSs) for narrowband communication are provided. A first wireless communication device determines a time-frequency PRS pattern based at least in part on a narrowband communication frequency band configuration and a PRS subframe configuration mode associated with a set of subframes. The first wireless communication device communicates, with a second wireless communication device, a plurality of PRSs using the determined PRS time-frequency pattern in the set of subframes. The PRS subframe configuration mode can indicate a first configuration including a bitmap indicating a set of PRS subframes positioned within a group of contiguous subframes, a second configuration indicating a subset of the group of contiguous subframes that may carry the PRSs, or a combination thereof. The first configuration and/or the second configuration can be used to indicate the set of subframes.

  • Publication number: 20210376876
Abstract: Coverage enhancements and coverage mode switching related optimizations are discussed for user equipments (UEs) that may switch between various coverage extension (CE) and non-CE modes of operation. In such enhancements, paging uncertainty and delays may be reduced by sending pages either simultaneously or using historical information over multiple coverage modes available to UEs. Random access procedures may be improved by providing CE mode random access procedures that are available when normal mode random access attempts fail and before declaring radio link failure. Additional aspects include improvements for more advanced UEs to improve coverage within normal mode operations by leveraging techniques used for narrowband CE mode operations, including transmission repetition and gapless transmission scheduling over hopped narrowband frequencies.

  • Publication number: 20210351871
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support group-based acknowledgment feedback techniques. Two or more different groups of downlink transmissions may each have an associated group-based acknowledgment feedback, and a base station may transmit downlink control information to a UE that indicates one or more parameters that are used to determine which downlink transmissions are to be reported in the group-based feedback. Based on the parameters in the downlink control information, the UE may determine the feedback to be reported, and a timing for when to transmit the feedback to the base station.

  • Patent number: 11129195
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may determine that a channel, such as a downlink channel or an uplink channel, and a positioning reference signal (PRS) occasion are scheduled for a common set of resources, such as a common frequency, a common time, and/or the like. This may result in the UE being unable to receive the PRS and/or process the PRS as a result of receiving the channel. In some aspects, the UE may determine that a PRS collides with a channel, and may perform a collision response action, such as dropping at least a portion of the channel, based at least in part on determining that the PRS occasion collides with the channel.

  • Patent number: 11129196
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may rate match an uplink transmission around a set of resources reserved by a base station. The base station may indicate a set of reserved resources which overlaps an uplink resource allocation to the UE. The base station may transmit an indicator of the reserved resources, and the UE may identify a location of a clear channel assessment (CCA) gap in a symbol period relative to the reserved resources. By rate matching around the reserved resources and one or more CCA gaps, the UE may transmit uplink information despite the allocated uplink resources colliding with the reserved resources.

  • Publication number: 20210289425
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may receiving, from a base station, a synchronization signal block (SSB) of a set of quasi-collocated (QCL) SSBs, the SSB comprising an indication of a parameter indicating information associated with a plurality of downlink control channel locations corresponding to the set of QCL SSBs. The UE may determine, based at least in part on the parameter, the plurality of downlink control channel locations corresponding to the set of QCL SSBs. The UE may receive a downlink grant for a system information based at least in part on monitoring one or more downlink control channel locations of the plurality of downlink control channel locations. The UE may receive the system information based at least in part on the downlink grant. The UE may establish a connection with the base station based at least in part on the SSB and the received system information.

  • Publication number: 20210281462
Abstract: New radio (NR) shared spectrum (NR-SS) listen before talk (LBT) gap optimizations are disclosed in which an indication, such as the preemption indicator, may provide an indication of a communications gap, in which preemptive communications may occur, to a user equipment (UE) currently engaged in communications, whether the preemptive communications are to another UE or network node or through different signal channels. The gap and preemptive communication may be measured in full symbol lengths, sub-symbol lengths, or interlaces. The communication gap may provide sufficient resources for the preempting node to adequately obtain the shared channel via listen before talk (LBT) procedures, and for the original UE to resume communications after the gap. The communication gap may also be optimally configured in order to provide both the UE and preempting node as much communication resources as possible within the scheduled communication opportunities.
