  • Patent number: 8483714
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method (2) and a mobile device (2) for low power identification of beacon transmitters (20) for determining the position of the mobile device (2) in an indoor environment. The mobile device (2) is first turned into a positioning mode. Thereafter the mobile device (2) receives an identification signal from at least one beacon transmitter (20). This identification signal contains information about that the beacon transmitter (20) may be used for positioning services. Next the mobile device (2) will request the beacon transmitters (20) that are within the range of the mobile device (2) to send data pertaining to their position, and then determine its position by performing calculations based on such data. This will reduce the power consumption of the mobile device (2) substantially.

  • Publication number: 20130165048
Abstract: A wireless communications device includes a Personal Area Network (PAN) transceiver that communicates data with a corresponding PAN transceiver disposed in a hands-free visor. The device also includes a short-range transceiver that communicates with a corresponding short-range transceiver in the hands-free visor. Both the wireless communications device and the hands-free device are configured to select which of these transceivers it is to use to transmit data based on predefined criteria.

  • Publication number: 20120266191
Abstract: A method and system that makes use of social networking data and/or sensor data gathered from personal mobile radio terminal-based sensors (36-48) and/or advertisement display (14) based sensors to select and to serve relevant messages to render to a group of individuals. The messages are chosen to maximize the impact the messages will have on the target audience based on the likes/dislikes of the crowd, any mood the individuals may be experiencing, or any other relevant data.

  • Publication number: 20120088519
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method in a mobile device and a mobile device for low power identification of its position in an indoor environment, in which beacon transmitters of a beacon system are present. The device receives a notification from at least one of the beacon transmitters of the beacon system that notifies the mobile device that it is within the range of the beacon system. Thus it is the beacon transmitters that perform the continuous scanning to identify if the mobile device is within range and not the mobile device itself. This will reduce the power consumption of the mobile device substantially. The mobile device will than request that the beacon transmitters within range to send data pertaining to their position, and then determine its position by performing calculations based on such data.

  • Publication number: 20090061770
Abstract: A Bluetooth device that includes a Bluetooth transceiver operatively configured to perform inquiry scans and page scans periodically during a standby mode, and to carry out communications during a connection state. The device further includes a Bluetooth controller for controlling operation of the transceiver, the controller being operatively configured to selectively control the transceiver to perform the inquiry scans and the page scans concurrently in a normal standby mode, and to perform the inquiry scans alone in the absence of the page scans in an on-demand page scanning mode, as a function of a predefined criteria.
