  • Patent number: 9826382
Abstract: Two physical layer user terminal capability alternatives are introduced for device-to-device discovery for FDD mode terminals: a full discovery physical layer capability, and a partial discovery physical layer capability. The full discovery physical layer capability corresponds to an alternative where a discovery-capable user terminal has a capability to perform both Discovery_Scan (on an uplink band) and Discovery_Tx (on a downlink band) operations. A Discovery_Tx operation corresponds to transmission of a discovery signal to another user terminal directly over the air. A Discovery_Scan operation corresponds to reception of the discovery signal from another user terminal directly over the air. The partial discovery physical layer capability corresponds to an alternative where the discovery-capable terminal has a capability to perform either Discovery_Scan operation (on the downlink band) or Discovery_Tx (on the uplink band) operation (or both).

  • Publication number: 20170331602
Abstract: When triggering a user equipment (UE) to send a reference signal (SRS) the network configures the UE with multiple parameter sets, each having a timing indication. The UE's resource allocation grants multiple uplink (UL) subframes and identifies/selects one of those parameter sets. The timing indication of the selected set identifies one of the granted UL subframes, in one embodiment by counting only among the allocated/granted shortened UL subframes. This triggers the UE to send SRS in that identified shortened UL subframe. In one embodiment if no UL subframes in the grant are shortened this triggers the UE to send SRS in a subframe previous to an the allocated/granted multiple UL subframes. The same mechanism can be used to trigger feedback reports such as aperiodic channel state information or block ACK/NACK reports, where the different UL signaling being triggered is requested in the network's resource allocation to the UE.

  • Patent number: 9813217
Abstract: Apparatus and method for resource allocation are provided. An apparatus includes a controller which is configured to utilize a tree structure with more than one branch in the resource allocation of physical resource blocks, each branch including one or more legal starting positions for resource allocation. Each starting position is associated with a cluster of physical resource blocks, the number of starting positions being different on each branch. The size of the resource clusters of each branch is different. The controller is configured to denote each resource cluster with a predefined index, and allocate one or more clusters to user equipment uplink connection.

  • Patent number: 9706533
Abstract: A method for reference signal transmission is disclosed, wherein a demodulation reference signal DMRS and a sounding reference signal SRS is transmitted in a same time domain resource from a user terminal to an LTE base station. A single reference signal sequence is used both for demodulation and detection of a data channel, and for channel sounding, such that a reference signal sequence part used for the demodulation and detection of the data channel is in a power offset compared to a reference signal sequence part used for the channel sounding. Code division multiplexing is applied on a reference signal sequence by using a cyclic shift of a whole length of the sequence. The cyclic shift is selected such that reference signal sequences allocated to the different user terminals are orthogonal over a minimum allocation granularity of the data channel.

  • Publication number: 20170188304
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for communication are provided. The solution includes receiving a message from a base station a user terminal is connected to. The message instructs the user terminal to search from a control channel transmitted by the base station an indicator. If the indicator is found, the user terminal operates according to a configuration where given downlink subframes are suspended. If the indicator is not found, the user terminal continues searching and assumes no change in downlink subframe transmission.
