  • Publication number: 20070248147
Abstract: In one non-limiting aspect thereof, the exemplary embodiments of this invention provide a user equipment that includes a data processor; and a wireless transceiver configured to transmit uplink pilot signals during sub-bands and slots, wherein at least three blocks (LB1, LB2 and LB3) are reserved for pilot signals. LB1 and LB2 include in-band pilot signals transmitted using a dedicated pilot code. The wireless transceiver is further configured to transmit LB3 using a frequency hopping pattern and pilot code allocation that are based on a slot and a sub-band in which a first LB3 is transmitted. Thus, the code and hopping pattern of a scheduled user equipment are resource-specific (defined by an allocated resource), as opposed to being user equipment-specific.

  • Publication number: 20070206531
Abstract: A random access procedure for use by a UE wireless communication terminal in communicating with a base station (or Node-B or eNB) of a radio access network, and in particular a E-UTRA network. A random access preamble is sent by the UE via RACH separate and prior to a random access message burst, which is sent on SCH but not until the UE receives one or more messages indicating an acknowledgment of the preamble and providing an allocation on SCH for use in transmitting the message burst, and also providing a preamble identifier, which the radio access network can then use to request retransmission of the message burst if necessary.

  • Publication number: 20070201569
Abstract: First information is detected in a received wideband signal. The first information is conveyed by a plurality of multiplexed frequency bands, individual ones of the multiplexed frequency bands corresponding to individual ones of first users and to a transport format. Detecting includes making data decisions corresponding to the first information. For each first user, a regenerated signal is created using the data decisions corresponding to that first user and the transport format. A resultant signal is created based on the regenerated signals for all of the first users and on the received wideband signal. Second information is detected in the resultant signal at least by using a number of spreading codes, individual ones of which are associated with individual ones of second users.

  • Publication number: 20070201408
Abstract: Either a first transport format or a second transport format is selected to transmit information corresponding to an input symbol sequence. The transport formats fit information into a timeslot having a predetermined duration. Based upon the selected transport format, either the information is created from the input symbol sequence using the first transport format or is created from the input symbol sequence using the second transport format. Creating the information for transmission using the first transport format applies a spreading code to the input symbol sequence. The information for transmission is transmitted in a selected timeslot having the predetermined duration. Creating and transmitting the information using the first transport format causes the transmitted information to occupy a first frequency band. Creating and transmitting the information using the second transport format causes the transmitted information to occupy a second frequency band that partially overlaps the first frequency band.

  • Publication number: 20060291431
Abstract: Pilot signal sequences with a low Peak-to-average ratio are generated by a method comprising the steps of providing a first signal sequence consisting of a first number, m, of signal elements and known to have a frequency spectrum with either identical or nearly identical non-zero amplitude values in a first frequency interval, performing an invertible first transformation of the first signal sequence into a first frequency spectrum in the first frequency interval, the first frequency spectrum consisting of m first frequency samples, performing a second transformation of the first frequency spectrum into a second frequency spectrum consisting of n frequency samples in the first frequency interval, the n frequency samples being formed by the m first frequency samples and a third number, n minus m, of additional second frequency samples, which have zero amplitude, such that the second frequency spectrum has m frequency spikes distributed over the second frequency interval, and performing a third transformation,

  • Publication number: 20060285611
Abstract: A solution for determining in a radio receiver a data sequence indicating transmission parameters of a frame before the whole frame has been received in the radio receiver in order to obtain additional pilot symbols. According to the provided solution data is received in one or more time intervals, the data being part of a transmitted data sequence indicating transmission parameters of a frame. The possible data sequences are known to the radio receiver. The received data is compared with corresponding data of each known data sequence, and, based on the comparison, the data sequence which is determined to be closest to the received data is selected. The received data of the data sequence indicating the transmission parameters of the frame is then used as pilot data for channel estimation purposes, for example.

  • Patent number: 7146168
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for providing a downlink connection in a cellular network. A feedback information indicating a selected cell is transmitted to a central network element (20) controlling at least two network elements (N1–N3) serving cells (C1–C3) of the cellular network. The at least two network elements are controlled by the central network element based on the feedback information so as to establish the downlink connection. Thus, the downlink transmissions of the non-central network elements (N1–N3) are controlled by the network so as to decrease performance loss due to reception errors of the feedback information. The feedback information may be a temporary ID obtained in a site selection diversity transmission control scheme.

  • Publication number: 20060268755
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for transmitting data in cellular network, wherein frequency reuse is proposed to be designed adaptive and utilized only only when needed, e.g., with small coding rates. The adaptive reuse can be obtained by using the conventional link adaptation approach. The invention can be easily applied to a Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) system which consists of combination of localized and distributed FDMA. Thereby, better resistance against strong other cell interference can be provided.

  • Publication number: 20060251041
Abstract: A solution for radio resource allocation in a cellular telecommunication system is provided. According to the invention, the frequency bands of a plurality of cells of the telecommunication system are divided independently into more than one frequency band sub-block. User terminals within the coverage area of each cell are then allocated to the frequency band sub-blocks on the basis of the modulation and coding schemes used by the user terminals. Furthermore, transmission power of the user terminals is controlled on the basis of the allocation of the user terminals in order to improve data throughput.
