  • Publication number: 20050119003
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for providing a downlink connection in a cellular network. A feedback information indicating a selected cell is transmitted to a central network element (20) controlling at least two network elements (N1-N3) serving cells (C1-C3) of the cellular network. The at least two network elements are controlled by the central network element based on the feedback information so as to establish the downlink connection. Thus, the downlink transmissions of the non-central network elements (N1-N3) are controlled by the network so as to decrease performance loss due to reception errors of the feedback information. The feedback information may be a temporary ID obtained in a site selection diversity transmission control scheme.

  • Publication number: 20050041626
Abstract: A communication method and a communication arrangement in a Code Division Multiple Access radio system is provided According to one embodiment, at least two transceivers of the radio system communicate with a packet switched connection through a radio interface. The quality of the packet switched connection is measured and a target Signal Interference Ratio is adjusted based on the quality measurement. When a transceiver receiving packets transmits a request to retransmit in the case of failure in reception of at least one packet, a transceiver transmitting packets is configured to retransmit each packet requested as a response to the request. The target Signal Interference Ratio for retransmission of a packet is set lower than the target Signal Interference Ratio for the first transmission of the corresponding packet.

  • Patent number: 6839326
Abstract: This invention teaches a method for use in a wideband CDMA telecommunications system wherein the base station (BS) utilizes transmit antenna diversity. The method enables the user equipment (UE) to perform a channel estimate for channels received from two antennas of the base station (BS), and includes steps of: (a) computing an estimated phase difference between a common pilot channel and a dedicated pilot channel received from one antenna of the two antennas; and (b) determining the channel estimate by rotating a common pilot channel estimate according to the estimated phase difference, where the phase difference is computed as a complex coefficient between the common pilot channel and the dedicated pilot channel. In a second aspect this invention teaches a method for use in a transmit antenna diversity system for enabling the UE to verify an antenna phase shift previously signaled by the UE to the BS.

  • Patent number: 6678314
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and circuitry for determining a spreading factor in a communication system with variable data rates. In such a system the received signal may include a plurality of data symbols that are spread in the transmission signal in a manner that is defined by a spreading code and a spreading factor, the spreading factor being one of a plurality of possible spreading factors. In accordance with the method, the received signal is processed so as to produce signal outputs which are cleared from the effects of the spreading code, autocorrelation values are computed for the signal outputs, and the spreading factor is determined based on the computed autocorrelation values.
