  • Patent number: 4901519
Abstract: A sliver opening apparatus for separating sliver into individual fibers for feeding of the individual fibers to the rotor of an open end spinning machine includes a rotating opening roller having a hollow interior and perforations from its exterior to its interior and air flow control elements disposed in the hollow interior of the opening roller. The air flow control elements define an opening located generally adjacent the sliver intake opening and an interior hollow chamber extending from the opening, the chamber being relatively large and the opening being relatively small. When the opening roller rotates, the air flow control elements cause the fibers from the incoming sliver to project toward the opening roller for optimum separation and combing by the teeth of the opening roller.

  • Patent number: 4815267
Abstract: A friction spinning apparatus includes two drums being driven in the same direction and defining a wedge-shaped gap therebetween with a spinning region. A suction device is disposed in at least one of the drums and directed against the wedge-shaped gap. A yarn draw-off apparatus draws off yarn produced in the wedge-shaped gap. A fiber supply device is provided with a fiber guide channel. The fiber guide channel has one side with a slit-like fiber dispersion opening formed therein and disposed in the wedge-shaped gap and another side facing away from the fiber dispersion opening. A variable ventilation opening is formed in the other side of the fiber guide channel for varying fiber mass distribution in the spinning region.

  • Patent number: 4738097
Abstract: A friction spinning device includes two drums being driven in the same direction and defining a wedge-shaped gap therebetween having a spinning region. A yarn draw-off device draws off yarn produced in the wedge-shaped gap in a given yarn draw-off direction. At least one of the drums is perforated and a suction device is disposed in the at least one drum and directed against the wedge-shaped gap. A fiber supply device has a fiber guide channel disposed at an angle relative to the given yarn draw-off direction. The fiber guide channel has substantially parallel side wall sections being mutually spaced apart by a given distance and the fiber guide channel has a slit-like fiber dispersion opening disposed in the wedge-shaped gap being delimited by the side wall sections and having a width substantially equal to the given distance. The fiber guide channel has a pipe-like enlargement at an end of the fiber dispersion opening being wider than the fiber dispersion opening.

  • Patent number: 4676062
Abstract: Method of forming spinning fibers for producing a thread, which includes applying at least one laterally limited swarm of spinning fibers continuously to an outer cylindrical surface of a rotating, perforated drum having an interior, to which suction air is applied, further transporting the spinning fibers on the drum in peripheral direction of the drum along a spatial, spiral path wherein the spinning fibers are, respectively, accelerated, decelerated and individually separated from one another, clamping the spinning fibers at an outer end of the spiral path at a clamping line between the drum and at least one clamping element engaging the drum, and continuously conducting the spinning fibers away from the clamping line to at least one thread forming device.

  • Patent number: 4573312
Abstract: A friction spinning apparatus, includes oppositely-disposed, rotationally-symmetrical friction elements rotating in the same direction, the friction elements having perforated casings defining a line of closest mutual approach between the casings and two wedge-shaped regions adjacent the line of closest mutual approach, stationery suction devices disposed in the casings, the suction devices having suction apertures directed toward the perforated casings, a fiber feeding device for feeding spinning fibers along a yarn withdrawing direction, and a yarn withdrawing device for withdrawing yarn, each of the casings including a yarn formation zone receiving the spinning fibers at substantially the furthest upstream portion of the casings in the yarn withdrawing direction for continuously forming yarn, a curved transition zone downstream of the yarn formation zone, and a yarn consolidation zone downstream of the transition zone, the yarn consolidation zone being separate from and having a longitudinal axis disposed

  • Patent number: 4557105
Abstract: Method of preparing fibers fed from a fiber-loosening device into a wedge-shaped spinning zone of a friction spinning machine having friction elements moveable relative to one another, which includes feeding a fiber-laden carrier-air flow having a component directed parallel to the wedge-shaped spinning zone tangentially to one of the friction elements at a location outside the wedge-shaped spinning zone and in a direction opposite the direction of movement of the one friction element, simultaneously exerting holding forces on the fibers and flinging the fibers against the moving surface of the one friction element so that the fibers are stretched out and held fast thereon, conveying the fibers in held-fast condition thereof into the wedge-shaped spinning zone, rolling the fibers therein and integrating the fibers into a yearn, and drawing-off the thus-formed yarn.
