  • Publication number: 20120308044
Abstract: In general, this disclosure describes techniques for muting participants in a communication session. A communication session, such as a teleconference or a video conference, may be established between a plurality of participants using devices. Each participant engaged in the communication session may be authorized to mute or un-mute other participants. Information related to the communication session may be provided to some of the participants, including but are not limited to, indications of when a participant is muted or un-muted, indications of which participant initiated a muting or un-muting, indications of volume of a participant, or indications of types of sounds in a communication session. Social controls, utilized through transparency (e.g., providing identifying indications), may reduce the chance of misuse of the muting functionality.

  • Patent number: 8151437
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for green machining bevel gears, including a CNC machining station for gear cutting a wheel blank (K2). The machining station includes a tool spindle which is used to receive a gear cutting tool and a work piece spindle which is used to receive the gear blank (K2). The machining station also relates to a machining station which operates in a vertical manner. The device also comprises a vertical processing station having a tool holder and a work piece spindle which is used to receive a work piece blank (K1). The machining station mechanically forms a functional unit together with the pre-machining station, wherein the work piece blank (K1) undergoes green machining in the pre-machining station, and is transferred as a gear blank (K2) to the first machining station after the first green machining where it is cut into a gear. The machining station and the pre-machining station are linked together in terms of data and control.

  • Publication number: 20100312759
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention determine if a user preference or other piece of data is being synchronized too frequently. If the user preference is being synchronized too frequently, synchronization of the user preference is throttled to prevent it from synchronizing for some number of synchronization cycles. If the user preference rarely changes, the user preference is rewarded by throttling it less often.

  • Patent number: 7546323
Abstract: A storage area network uniform integrated backup reporting and verification mechanism displays backup reporting information at an enterprise level while showing uniformity among heterogeneous backup applications of different vendors. The backup management application coalesces data from different backup applications by scanning status data from backup applications, and identifying data corresponding to common output fields. Further storage array specific aspects, information, or commands are attainable via the linkages to the native backup applications specific to the individual storage arrays. The backup management application provides uniform reporting and verification of satisfactory backup completion across the SAN, or otherwise pinpoints and clarifies problems or other anomalies associated with the backup.
