Abstract: The invention relates to a locking system, for providing authorization to access and drive a motor vehicle. The locking system has a first device, which is a control device for unlocking and locking the car doors, the ignition lock, the steering wheel lock, etc. Additionally, the locking system has a second device, which is an electronic key or an identifier. The two devices have transmission means and/or receiving means for electromagnetic signals with frequencies ? lying in a frequency band between two cut-off frequencies ?a, ?b. At least one of the signals, transmitted between the devices, is a coded operating signal for authenticating the second device. The actual frequency ?i with which the transmission means of the second device is operated is stored in a storage means of the first device.

At least one cross member extends between and is operably connected with the leg members to rigidly retain the leg members in the upright orientation. The leg members and cross member define a top supporting frame with a central axis extending longitudinally therealong. First and second elongate top members are supported on the frame on opposite sides of the central axis, and have opposing interior edges which are spaced apart to define a slot therebetween. An elongate accessory support beam is positioned in a generally vertical orientation in the slot, and includes a generally T-shaped slot extending longitudinally therealong for supporting accessories thereon.

Abstract: A system and method for building and providing a universal product configuration system for arbitrary domains allows one or more domain experts to create and maintain domain-specific conceptual frameworks and associated knowledge sets such that users can select and configure valid products and generate meaningful output. Multiple domains can be represented simultaneously, allowing multiple conceptual framework/knowledge set pairs to be used in any combination so that products from their respective conceptual frameworks can be shared within and across domains. The present invention further allows products to be converted and imported from legacy data sources, and provides for the standardization of product configuration systems, including the critical data embodied therein, within a single domain as well as across arbitrary multiple domains.

Before the second device is first activated, it is in a sleep state in which operation-independent function is not permitted and energy consumption is reduced. During a first operator-dependent authentication, the second device is changed over from the sleep state into a standby state in which an operation-independent function is at least partially made possible.

Abstract: A release mechanism for actuating a friction clutch between an internal combustion engine and a transmission of a motor vehicle that is designed for concentric assembly on a guide sleeve mounted on a transmission shaft in order to bear against a release spring of the friction clutch where the guide sleeve and the friction clutch each having a respective center axis. The release mechanism includes a clutch release bearing. The release mechanism also includes a first device for compensating for at least one of a tilt between the center axes and wobbling eccentricity of the release spring where the first device includes a spherical surface between the release bearing and the guide sleeve, and a second device for compensating for offset between the center axes.

Abstract: A prefabricated system for outfitting a building space includes an architectural product (such as a full-height permanent building wall, a post-and-beam product with overhead frame, and a drywall-covered wall), a furniture product (such as a partial-height wall, a partition, and a desking system), and a plurality of accessories. The architectural product includes a structural member with horizontal and vertical accessory-mounting T-slots, and the furniture product includes structural trim pieces with identical vertical and horizontal accessory-mounting T-slots. The plurality of accessories are constructed to stably engage any of the accessory-mounting slots at a selected location along the slots. Some accessories can be attached to and extend between the two products, such as an accessory screen that extends between a post of a post-and-beam system and an end of a partition system.

In order to provide simple constructional conditions it is proposed that the two eccentric shafts (2, 3) are provided with a different angular position (&phgr;) and that the connecting rods (4) of the two eccentric shafts (2, 3) extend in an inclined manner with respect to each other.

Abstract: The invention relates to an electrical switch, in particular for a motor vehicle. The switch has a housing in which a contact system is located. Electrical connections which are located on the housing lead to the contact system, of which electrical connections first electrical connections are used to apply a power voltage for a high power current, and second electrical connections are used to apply a signal voltage for a low signal current. Optionally and if required, one connection can carry the power current via the first electrical connections and/or the signal current via the second electrical connections. Electrical switches designed in such a way are particularly suitable for arrangement in a control panel for a motor vehicle.

Abstract: A biocompatible, resorbable Type II collagen-based matrix is reconstituted from solubilized animal cartilage tissue and used in the culture and growth of cells, such as chondrocyte cells. The matrix is produced by isolating cartilage tissue, solubilizing and reconstituting the cartilage to form a fleece-like material, pressing the fleece-like material to form a sheet-like article, and sterilizing the article. An implantable article for cartilage repair includes chondrocyte cells retained on the matrix.

Abstract: A rolling-contact bearing for a shaft journal wherein the outside diameter of the shaft journal is thermally insulated relative to the shaft through which a heat transfer medium flows. The bore of the inner race on the shaft journal is provided with a ceramic layer predominantly of zirconium oxide and a smaller among of yttrium oxide to reduce the heat transfer from the shaft journal to the rolling-contact bearing. The inner race also has lateral surfaces toward the elements securing the bearing on the shaft journal. Those lateral surfaces may be provided with a ceramic layer as well.

Abstract: An electronic key for use with a vehicle locking system controls at least one of a door locking feature and an ignition lock feature on the vehicle. The electronic key has a transmitter/receiver for transmitting at least one coded operating signal generated by the electronic key and transmitted from the electronic key to the locking system to activate at least one function of the locking system upon positive evaluation of the transmitted operating signal by the locking system. An alternative comprises reacting a diaminomethane produced from a secondary amine, formaldehyde, especially paraformaldehyde, as well as water with one another in about equimolar amounts. The invention is also concerned with a process for the aminomethylation of &dgr;-tocopherol or of tocopherol mixtures containing this and comprises using a Mannich reagent which has been produced in the above manner. After completion of this aminomethylation process excess Mannich reagent can be separated by distillation and can be reacted with water and formaldehyde, especially paraformaldehyde, in order to regenerate further Mannich reagent suitable for use in the aminomethylation, this regeneration representing a further aspect of the invention. Finally, the invention includes certain novel bis(aminomethyl)-&ggr;-tocopherols.

The housing of the electronic key has the shape of a thin wedge, the narrow end of the wedge being designed for insertion into the lock. The parts active for the actuation of the lock are also accommodated here. Moreover, the housing has a receptacle for a key bit for a mechanical lock.

C. with stirring at a stirring speed of from 5 to 200 rpm with a stirrer which has a ratio of stirrer diameter (d) to container diameter (D) in the range of 0.6<d/D<0.999 leads to a homogeneously hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol.
