  • Patent number: 6050615
Abstract: The invention relates to a pipe coupling comprising two clamp halves of C-shaped cross-section connected at one end to pivot in relation to one another around at least one bolt, and a quick-action closure which is disposed at the diametrically opposite other ends of the clamp halves and which comprises a screw bolt, one end of which is articulated to one of the clamp halves and on whose other end a nut drawing the clamp halves into the closure position is placed, a lever lockable in the closure position being articulated to the nut. The characterizing feature of the invention is that the nut bears against a sliding member which is slipped over the screw bolt and which rests with opposite axial pins in corresponding shaped depressions in one clamp half, the lever being locked in the closure position by means of a bowed spring articulated to the other clamp half.

  • Patent number: 5314215
Abstract: The invention relates to a flange ring which is divided in two along a plane extending in the axial direction and wherein, in the zone of the two abutment places each flange half has a bolt at one abutment place and a pocket at the other, so that the bolt on one flange half engages positively in the pocket of the other flange half, the flange ring being formed with holes in both flange halves for the passage of the fastening screws. The characterizing feature of the invention is that the flange ring is divided in the center into two identical halves (1a, 1b) and the bolt (8) so engages positively behind the pocket (9) that the flange halves (1a, 1b) are joined together in the bent state, and after being joined together the flange halves (1a, 1b) cannot be separated in the radial direction with the flange ring (1) flat.

  • Patent number: 5074600
Abstract: An assembly for connecting an end of a hose to a spigot centered on an axis has an annular radially outwardly projecting collar formed on the spigot so that the hose end can be fitted over the spigot axially outward of the collar and a pair of inner shells having concave inner surfaces. An axially extending hinge bolt pivotally interconnects the inner shells and together with a lever and a spring can move the shells between a closed position with their inner surfaces pressed radially inward against the hose end fitted over the spigot and an open position spaced radially outward from the hose end fitted over the spigot. Respective outer shells integrally fixed on the inner shells and each have an axially inner end formed with a radially inwardly directed flange that engages in the closed position radially inward past the collar of the spigot axially inward of the collar so that the flanges and collar prevent the shells from being pulled axially outward off the spigot in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4913470
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tube coupling consisting of a collar formed by at least two shell portions connected at their peripheral end by means of a crossing joint bolt, and comprising further a bolt lever articulated at the free peripheral end of one of the shell portions and connected to the other shell portion by means of a locking spring. The characteristic feature of the invention is the fact that the joint bolt connecting the shell portions is guided in an oblong hole provided in one of said shell portions, the longitudinal axis of which extends in an acute angle .alpha. with respect to the joint line of the tube coupling towards the bolt lever in closed position, and that at the free peripheral end of the shell portions are formed stop faces which in case of smaller tube wall thicknesses get into contact before the closing position of the bolt lever is reached.

  • Patent number: 4659120
Abstract: The invention relates to a coupling for pipes, tubes or hoses comprising shell portions connected by means of joint bolts and also comprising a bolt lever locking mechanism. Substantial improvement is obtained by the fact that the concerned web portion is part of an outer guide flange extending in a circumferential direction which engages the annular groove at a distance of at least 90.degree. before reaching the closing position. Integration of both web portions into a closed ring on the connecting flange represents a further advantage.

  • Patent number: 4643464
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for connecting two pipe ends, having a socket, a spigot and an annular seal therebetween. These parts are clamped together by flanges of a clamp in order to close the device. While prior art sockets and spigots have been made of massive material and shaped by expensive machining processes, the invention provides the spigot which is formed as a generally U-shaped profiled ring having a front and a rear annular flange and holding the sealing element between the flanges. The outside diameter of the front flange is smaller than that of the rear flange. The socket may also be a profiled ring in order to further reduce the manufacturing costs.

  • Patent number: 4556241
Abstract: The invention relates to a device to connect hose or pipe ends. Until now such a device comprised at least two non-deformable clamp parts with flanges extending inwards which serve to press a hose end onto a nozzle or which engage behind annular collars provided at the ends of the pipes. At the ends facing one another the clamp parts are provided with a mounting arrangement for a hinge-pin which connects these parts. To avoid the work entailed by providing such a mounting arrangement and by the assembling of a number of clamp parts, it is proposed according to the invention that the clamp-type ring is made as one piece and is produced of a material which can be deformed by hand and that the flanges are formed by a permanent shaping of the ring. In this way a far more inexpensive construction is obtained, which also has the advantage of a lower mass and requires less space.

  • Patent number: 4555131
Abstract: A coupling for connecting hose or pipe ends has a sleeve portion and a cylindric insert portion, each to be secured to one of the ends to be connected. The insert portion, when "plugged" in the sleeve portion, sealingly engages same to provide the coupling. The invention couples the two parts to prevent axial displacement of same. It utilizes a locking lever pivotable about a transverse axis and having a locking bolt at a location between the pivot and the free end of the lever. The pivot of the lever is mounted on a transverse cross-piece extending between free ends of the arms of a U-shaped frame surrounding the coupling. The base of the "U" has an upwardly protruding second bolt.

  • Patent number: 4496176
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for connecting flanged pipes. For this purpose, a multiple-section clamp is mainly used which includes inwardly protruding flanges engaging beyond the collars of the pipe ends. An annular profiled seal forms an approximately U-shaped hollow profile with the shanks which are formed as sealing lips and which abut against the peripheral surfaces of the collars. The assembly of the profiled seal is difficult. The sealing effect is often impaired by the peripheral surfaces of the collars being no longer sufficiently even and smooth. These drawbacks are removed by the invention such that the profiled seal has an inner profiled section extending between the faces of the collars and that the outer surfaces of the outer profiled section surrounding the peripheral surfaces of the collars are reinforced at a guide ring. Thus, the particular sealing region is disposed between the faces of the collars.

  • Patent number: 4463972
Abstract: A pipe coupling for coupling pipe ends to each other, one pipe end having at its end an annular shoulder limiting the sliding of a first sleeve member over the pipe end. The second sleeve member is so dimensioned that it fits over a piping end and is welded to same. The two sleeve members are insertable into each other such that a clamping shell comprised of two half-shells hinged to each other engages exterior shoulders of the sleeve members at a location wherein the two sleeve members are overlapped one by the other. Preferably, the second sleeve member is integral with a flange for connecting the member to an existing sleeve on the respective piping end. The invention results in a short overall structure facilitating the use of the coupling with flanged pipe connections of a piping system.
