  • Publication number: 20090102264
Abstract: A vehicle seat has a backrest with a backrest frame, attached to a seat supporting structure, that can be pivoted to a limited extent about a horizontal axis of rotation in order to permit active sitting. To permit active sitting even at high transverse acceleration forces, as occur during the operation of a motor vehicle, two bearing devices are attached to the backrest frame, and a backrest basic body is mounted on the bearing devices so that it can rotate about the horizontal axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4995066
Abstract: A device for forming an X-ray beam or gamma beam (11) having a small cross-section and a variable direction, includes an X-ray source or gamma source (1) which supplies an X-ray beam and a diaphragm device which forms the X-ray beam from the radiation beam. The diaphragm device has a stationary diaphragm section (7) provided with a rectilinear slit (8) and a cylindrical first diaphragm body (3) which rotates about an axis of rotation (5) and which is provided with a helical slit (9) on its outer surface. In order to reduce the expenditure for manufacturing a device which is also suitable for different distances between the radiation source and the axis of rotation, the diaphragm body (3) has an at least approximately semi-circular cross-section over at least a part of its length.

  • Patent number: 4535456
Abstract: To permit, by a program, supervision of a programmable controller, which controls, for example, operation of a machine tool, or other device in which sequential events occur, a computer controlled diagnostic unit (2) is connected to the programmable controller (1). The stepping or sequencing structure of the program in the programmable controller (1) is stored in the diagnostic unit (2), for example in a fixed memory (ROM 4). Supervision of the control of the machine tool, engine, or other operating unit, for example due to malfunction of transducers, connecting lines, and the like, is supervised by testing if the conditions for going from one step in a program to the next step are always satisfied; if an error is recognized, the respective steps of the control program are interrogated, and the conditions for stepping from one step to the next are tested.

  • Patent number: 4469509
Abstract: In the operation of the rotary kiln provided at its charging end with a central burner, solid reducing agents having a high content of volatile constituents are used and the charge and the gas atmosphere are conducted in cocurrent streams. To avoid a high heat load per unit of volume in the heating-up zone and yet to increase the heating-up rate, a solid carbonaceous reducing agent having a high content of volatile constituents is charged together with the iron oxide-containing material into the charging end of the rotary kiln, oxygen-containing gases are blown through nozzle blocks into the free gas space and into the charge in the heating-up zone, and oxygen-containing gases are blown through nozzle blocks into the free kiln space in the reducing zone.

  • Patent number: 4459357
Abstract: A procedure and an apparatus for the quantitative determination of cations and anions by ion chromatography is described which can be used, for example, to test drinking water, river water or water in drains. The sample is injected into a buffer stream which comes through a chromatography column. The eluate from the column is measured in a conductivity detector, the background being suppressed in a new cell. The cell consists of two ion exchange membranes which are not permeable to the ions to be measured and two electrodes which set up an electric field across the membranes. The highly dissociated ions of opposite charge in the eluate are exchanged into compounds of low conductivity and removed from the cell.

  • Patent number: 4243106
Abstract: A device for varying the angular setting of the blade of an earthmoving vehicle by means of a pair of double acting hydraulic cylinders in which only one of the cylinders receives pressure direct from a pump. The piston of that cylinder acts on one end of the blade and at the same time transmits pressure fluid through a hydraulic circuit to the piston of the other cylinder acting on the other end of the blade whereby the two pistons move in opposite directions. The hydraulic circuit includes a control valve for reversing the direction of movement of the pistons, the same cylinder being pressurized by the pump in both directions of movement of the pistons. Pressure fluid leakage loss compensating means are provided in each piston.

  • Patent number: 4217063
Abstract: A center support member for a tiltable swivelling grading blade on an earthmoving machine which prevents the occurence of internal stresses in the blade generated by tilting of the blade is in the form of a ball and socket joint attached to the center rear of the blade and to a carrier frame on the machine. A shaft slidable in a sleeved mounting carries the ball portion of the joint at one end and the other end of the shaft is spring urged towards the blade by spring means in the sleeved mounting. Stop means in the sleeved mounting limit the stroke of the shaft. Additionally, a piston engaged by the spring means in a chamber in the sleeved mounting is arranged to force lubricant through a feed line to the shaft in response to axial movement of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4205904
Abstract: A device for indicating the presence of electrically conducting particles, such as metal detritus, in a liquid such as hydraulic oil passing through a filter in which a gap is provided adjacent the filter into which metal particles are swept by the liquid flow to form a conducting bridge in an electrical circuit. In a preferred embodiment, an annular gap closed to through flow is provided between an insulated metal ring around a filter element and the wall of the flow passage surrounding the filter, and the ring and the wall are connected to an electrical circuit for actuating a warning light or audible alarm when the gap is bridged.

  • Patent number: 4040347
Abstract: A printing machine has a plurality of rubbing rollers which are rotatable about respective rubbing axes and serve to transfer ink to a form roller. Each of these rubbing rollers is connected via a link to a respective cam follower engaging in a respective continuous circumferential cam groove in a cam that rotates about an axis parallel to the roller axis. The cam follower is normally nonrotatable about the cam but its angular position about the cam can be adjusted so as to closely control the inking characteristic of the respective rubbing roller. The angular position of each rubbing roller is determined by means of a calculator which is set up to hold a diagram on which is plotted the inking density of the material to be printed against the form roller position. A plurality of sliders each corresponding to a respective rubbing roller are independently displaceable on the support adjacent the diagram and each carry indicia indicating the inking characteristic of the respective rubbing roller.
