  • Patent number: 4966012
Abstract: An automobile air-conditioner wherein a total signal corresponding to a thermal load in the passenger compartment of an automobile and a head part total signal corresponding to a thermal load in the vicinity of the head of an occupant of the passenger compartment, then the thus obtained two total signals are used to determine two corresponding states of operation of a component involved in air-conditioning operation, and operation of the air-conditioning component is controlled based on one of the two total signals which is capable of providing an enhanced coolness to the occupant. According to a preferred embodiment, all the components involved in the air-conditioning operation are controlled based on the head part total signal.

  • Patent number: 4966011
Abstract: In an air-conditioner for automobiles, cooled air having passed through an evaporator is immediately introduced through a cooled air bypass passage into the vehicle passenger compartment. The opening of a bypass door disposed in the bypass passage is adjusted based on a head part total signal corresponding to a thermal load in the vicinity of the head of an occupant which is obtained in view of the current discharge mode, or an auxiliary total signal corresponding to a thermal load in the vehicle passenger compartment which is obtained in view of the current discharge mode. With this arrangement, the occupant does never feel excess cold when the discharge mode is changed and hence a feeling of comfortableness toward the air-conditioning can be maintained.

  • Patent number: 4961462
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling an automobile air-conditioner wherein the direction of solar radiation is determined based on a signal which is obtained by retarding the leading edge of a solar radiation signal and the position of an air-distributing door is controlled according to the thus obtained signal. A signal whose leading and trailing edges are progressively increasing and decreasing, respectively, is used for the calculation of a signal corresponding to the thermal load in the vehicle passenger compartment. The operation of various components of the air-conditioner including a blower is controlled by the result of calculation of the thermal load signal.

  • Patent number: 4953630
Abstract: An automobile air-conditioner controlling apparatus is equipped with a determination means for determining the amount of air bleeding from a defroster outlet, based on at least the outside temperature and the amount of opening of an air-mix door, when the temperature of blown-off air is higher than a predetermined temperature. By the determination means, the blow-off mode of the apparatus is automatically controlled over an expanded range when the outside temperature is low.

  • Patent number: 4858677
Abstract: An automobile air-conditioning apparatus with air blower control air-conditions the passenger compartment of an automobile by cooling and/or heating air delivered from an air blower into the compartment. During a period in which the compartment starts being cooled, the rate of air flow form the air blower is progressively increased up to an air flow rate in an automatic temperature adjusting mode. The gradient at which the air flow rate is increased is selected dependent on the amount of sunlight applied to the automobile, the temperature of air in the compartment, and the temperature of air at the outlet of an evaporator.

  • Patent number: 4827730
Abstract: A troubleshooting apparatus counts the number of times an abnormality occurs whenever each diagnosed portion of an automobile air-conditioning system repeats an abnormal and a normal status, stores each diagnosed portion in which an abnormality is detected and the number of times the abnormality of each diagnosed portion occurs in a nonvolatile memory, recognizes each diagnosed portion having the number of times the abnormality exceeds a predetermined value at the time of troubleshooting as a fault, and recognizes each diagnosed portion having an abnormality that occurs at the time of troubleshooting as a fault. Abnormalities that occur in conjunction with the dismounting and remounting of diagnosed portions during checking processes are absorbed in the number of times the abnormality occurs within the predetermined value so that a wrong diagnosis can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 4738396
Abstract: The operational temperature TP is determined as a function of the compartment temperature Tr. The blower speed is controlled along the characteristic line, the slope of which varies with the operational temperature TP. When the temperature of engine cooling water reaches a predetermined temperature, the speed of the blower is increased along the slope corresponding to the compartment temperature Tr. When the operational temperature TP is at least the predetermined temperature Tl, the speed of the blower is controlled as a function of time so that any violent increase in the blower speed may be prevented.
