Patent number: 7233736Abstract: In a ROW-based DVD-RW, a DVD video file is managed according to provisional VMGI (TMP_VMGI) and an extension file other than the DVD video file, such as a JPEG file or the like is managed according to intermediate management information (TMP_EXTI), and temporary space bitmap (TMP_SBM) used in UDF and the like is added to provisional VMGI (TMP_VMGI to record a combination of the DVD video file and extension file such as JPEG file and manage the temporary space. Thereby, the temporary space can be known from TMP_SBM, and even when the extension file has been deleted, the DVD-RW is made interchangeable with a read-only optical disk through finalization. Thus, the present invention allows to record a file of still pictures other than moving pictures and also pad information in a temporary space resulted from deletion of any recorded area.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2003Date of Patent: June 19, 2007Assignees: Sony Corporation, Pioneer CorporationInventors: Kenichiro Aridome, Katsumi Matsuno, Shingo Yoshioka, Akinobu Sugino

Patent number: 7188244Abstract: In order to drive a PC and a cam-coder communicating with each other by adopting a Bluetooth technique to carry out mutual authentication processing, the user presses an authentication button of the PC and an authentication button of the cam-coder simultaneously. An authentication program of the PC detects an on time to turn on the authentication button of the PC and an off time to turn off the button. Likewise, an authentication program of the cam-coder detects an on time to turn on the authentication button of the cam-coder and an off time to turn off the button. The detected on and off times are exchanged between the PC and the cam-coder. If a difference between the on times and a difference between the off times are each found to be within a predetermined range, a result of the mutual authentication processing is considered to be positive. In this way, the mutual authentication processing can be carried out with ease.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2002Date of Patent: March 6, 2007Assignee: Sony CorporationInventor: Katsumi Matsuno

Publication number: 20060165380Abstract: Disclosed herein is a picture display controlling apparatus capable of improving the user's ease of operation upon selecting picture data on a small-size screen of digital cameras or the like. Picture data items held in a data holding unit (310) are sorted into picture groups. The location of the picture data item most recently displayed from any of the picture groups is held as a picture resume pointer in a resume pointer holding unit (320). With an operation input accepted from the user by an operation inputting device (340), a display controlling unit (390) causes a displaying unit (350) to display the picture designated by the operation input while effecting transition from the current display status retained in a status holding unit (330).Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2005Publication date: July 27, 2006Applicant: Sony CorporationInventors: Sho Tanaka, Osamu Date, Katsumi Matsuno

Publication number: 20050078945Abstract: This invention is a recording medium recording method for an optical disc or the like. Every time one VTS is prepared, padding processing is executed to secure a recording area for new TMP_VMGI following that VTS and for VTSI and VTSM VOBS of the subsequent title. As, every time one VTS is prepared, new TMP_VMGI following that VTS is recorded, TMP_VMGI is recorded at the position that is added to the number of VTSs. Therefore, even when the management information becomes unreadable because of update exceeding the rewriting durability of the medium with respect to the recording area of TMP_VMGI on the innermost side, the management information can be read from TMP_VMGI recorded in the other recording areas and the finalizing processing can be executed.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2003Publication date: April 14, 2005Inventors: Kenichiro Aridome, Shingo Yoshioka, Katsumi Matsuno, Akinobu Sugino

Patent number: 6330249Abstract: A bus management node 11 has a register for channels in use REG1 and a bus capacity register REG2. Before starting the synchronous communication, each node 12 transmits a read-out command to the register for channels in use REG1 and the register for channels in use REG1 in order to read out their contents for ascertaining the number of the un-used channel and the residual capacity. If there is any un-used channel and any residual bus capacity, the node 12 transmits write commands to these registers REG1 and REG2 so that the number of the channel to be in use and the capacity of the bus to be in use will be stored in the register for channels in use REG1 and the bus capacity register REG2. This enables bus management to be achieved easily in a system performing synchronous communication between plural nodes connected to the bus.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2000Date of Patent: December 11, 2001Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Katsumi Matsuno, Ichiro Kubota, Minobu Hayashi, Hisato Shima

Patent number: 6128751Abstract: An electronic apparatus includes a CPU, a ROM, a RAM, an input port, a data bus, an address bus, a patching portion address register and a patching interrupt vector register which are connected to the data bus. A comparator compares a coincidence of the address stored in the address register with an address on the address bus and, in response thereto, supplies an interrupt to an interrupt control portion of the CPU. The interrupt control portion of the CPU is also supplied with other interrupts, for other processing. Further, an external storage device, connected to the input port, supplies a program bug patching information to be stored into the RAM. The RAM includes a stack area in which, during interrupt processing, there are saved data written in the address register and the patching interrupt register. Thus, patching of program bugs can be carried out even during an interrupt.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1995Date of Patent: October 3, 2000Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Iwao Yamamoto, Katsumi Matsuno
