  • Patent number: 5308314
Abstract: An integrated heart-lung machine, which includes a blood pump having a casing of a cup-like shape interiorly defining a pump chamber at an intermediate portion thereof for pumping in and out blood from a blood inlet to a guide flange formed at opposite ends of the casing; a rotor having a rotary member securely fixed to the fore end thereof within the pump chamber and journalled in the guide flange; an artificial lung of a doughnut-like or cylindrical shape connected contiguously to a blood flow passage in the guide flange and concentrically with the rotor; a stator detachably fitted in an intermediate portion between the rotor and the artificial lung; and a pedestal base located at one side of the artificial lung and provided with a blood outlet in communication with the artificial lung.

  • Patent number: 5299189
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a TDMA processing apparatus suitable for use in communication equipment for performing a communications service of a TDMA system. The TDMA processing apparatus can be reduced in size and manufactured at a low cost. The TDMA processing apparatus includes a one-chip microcomputer, which has a timer unit to which a preset value corresponding to each control-signal outputting timing as viewed from a reference point is set and for counting input reference clock pulses so as to make an interrupt request when the count reaches a preset value. In addition, the TDMA processing apparatus generates a control signal in response to the interrupt request.

  • Patent number: 5139332
Abstract: A standard test specimen for optical emission spectrochemical analysis is prepared by molding into the specimen body finely divided particles consisting essentially of the metal or metal alloy to be analyzed without melting the same and preferably by plastic deformation of such particles. The resultant specimen is homogeneous throughout and stable in quality so that accurate analysis of any of its elements is possible and the suitability of the test material for a given product can be accurately predicted.

  • Patent number: 4801340
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a permanent magnet using alloys of the formula R(T.sub.1-y M.sub.y).sub.z, wherein R denotes one or two species of rare earth metals, including Y, T denotes transition metals, principally Fe or Fe and Co, M denotes metalloid elements, principally B, and wherein 0.02<y<0.15, and 5<z<9), to obtain permanent magnets with high orientation properties through the formation of 50-1000 .mu.m crude grains by spraying the alloys in a hot melt state using an inert gas atomization process, forming grains of less than 30 .mu.m by a mechanical pulverizing process after crystal texture in the crude grains has grown to over 30 .mu.m granules by a heat-treatment of the crude grains in a vacuum or in an inert atmosphere below 1000.degree. C., whereupon the grain powder is compression molded and heat treated at 500.degree.-900.degree. C. under a magnetic field to yield a compacted powder permanent magnet.

  • Patent number: 3948097
Abstract: A flow metering apparatus of the type having a vortex generating element with a generally elongate cylindrical shape placed in a stream of flowing fluid so as to produce Karman's vortices at a rate proportional to the velocity of the flowing fluid, with means for detecting the rate of production of vortices to give a linearly related measure of fluid velocity. To improve the correspondence of vortex production rate with flow velocity over wide conditions of flow, the element is formed with a rectangular cross-section in which the depth d along the direction of flow and the height h across the direction of flow are arranged in a ratio d/h of between about 0.5 and 0.9 and preferably in a ratio of 2/3. In the vortex generating element, passageway means extend between openings in the two opposed rectangle sides which are aligned with the direction of flow.
