  • Patent number: 4759731
Abstract: A watercraft embodying an improved control arrangement wherein the speed of the watercraft is reduced in the event of operator inattention is sensed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 11, 1986
Date of Patent: July 26, 1988
    Assignee: Sanshin Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha
    Inventors: Tatsuki Uchida, Katsumi Torigai
  • Patent number: 4741162
Abstract: An outboard motor including a turbo-charged intercooled internal combustion engine of the two cycle crankcase compression type. The turbo-chargers for the engine are driven by exhaust gases flowing through an exhaust manifold on one side of the engine and deliver a compressed charge to an intercooler that extends across the top of the engine. The intercooler discharges to an induction system that is disposed on the side of the engine opposite to the exhaust manifold side.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 4, 1986
Date of Patent: May 3, 1988
    Assignee: Sanshin Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha
    Inventor: Katsumi Torigai
  • Patent number: 4566415
Abstract: Several embodiments of engine speed control mechanisms that permit the running speed of an engine to be maintained at a predetermined value. The mechanical components of the system include a linkage system that connects an operator position throttle control with the throttle valves of the engine and that incorporates a lost motion connection so that the throttle valves may be positioned independently of the operator throttle control to maintain the speed control. In one embodiment of the invention, the throttle and speed control mechanism is mounted on the engine while in another embodiment, these components are mounted remotely from the engine. In one embodiment of the invention, a control circuit is provided that prevents hunting.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 27, 1983
Date of Patent: January 28, 1986
    Assignee: Sanshin Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha
    Inventors: Tomio Iwai, Katsumi Torigai
  • Patent number: 4543921
Abstract: Several embodiments of heating devices for heating the charge of a two-cycle engine before it passes the gap of the spark plug at the time of ignition. The heating devices permit the use of low quality fuel such as kerosene or alcohol without some of the problems normally attendant with engines running on this type of fuel.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 22, 1983
Date of Patent: October 1, 1985
    Assignee: Sanshin Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha
    Inventors: Katsumi Torigai, Akio Oka
