  • Patent number: 9536198
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system, method, and computer program product to detect and localize non-technical losses in an energy distribution system. A computing device determines the energy consumption of a link and/or node that is associated with an energy grid. The computing device determines the mismatch between the determined energy consumption of the link and/or node and the predicted energy consumption of the link and/or node. The computing device also determines the location of unauthorized energy consumption within the energy that is associated with the mismatch.

  • Publication number: 20160180272
Abstract: A computer-implemented method, system and user interface for visually representing collisions between a plurality of projects within an organization via a graphical user interface (GUI) on a display of a user device are described. The method includes storing a plurality of survey questions in a survey database. The method further includes, via a collision calendar tool that is accessible from the user device, receiving, from the user device, a plurality of survey answers and project-related information, the project-related information identifying one or more details of a project, the survey answers corresponding to the survey questions; determining a collision score based on the survey answers; and displaying, on the display of the user device, a collision identifier representative of the collision score.

  • Patent number: 9312695
Abstract: Methods and arrangements for managing implementation of a power transformer. There is determined at least one parameter currently relating to operation of a transformer, as well as a revenue value currently assigned to the transformer. There is determined a depreciation value currently assigned to the transformer. There is determined a power output for the transformer for a future time slot that increases total revenue with respect to a life cycle of the transformer, the power output being determined based on the at least one parameter, the revenue value, and the depreciation value.

  • Publication number: 20160018458
Abstract: Methods and arrangements for localizing an outage in a power grid. An outage is detected in a power grid, the power grid comprising interconnected nodes. At least one candidate network topology (in the power grid) with respect to the outage is determined, and power consumption information and measured voltages relative to the nodes in the power grid are received. Voltage at a plurality of the nodes in the power grid is estimated based on the received power consumption information and on the at least one candidate network topology, and a location of the outage is estimated, based on the estimated node voltages and measured voltages. Other variants and embodiments are broadly contemplated herein.

  • Publication number: 20150180850
Abstract: A method for authenticating a client application attempting to access a protected resource on a resource server includes receiving a request to access the protected resource at an authorization server. The request is received from the client application authorized by a resource owner of the protected resource. Further, the method includes redirecting the request to the resource server using a redirect identifier corresponding to a redirect endpoint of the client application. The redirect identifier is intercepted by a web run time engine prior to the redirect. Furthermore, the method includes determining a match between the intercepted redirect identifier and a pre-assigned redirect identifier with the client application stored at the web run time engine to authenticate the client application prior to providing access to the protected resource.

  • Publication number: 20150066435
Abstract: Systems and methods for cognitive alarm management in a power grid are described. In one embodiment, sensor measurements are transformed to determine the state of a power grid. Given current state information relating to the power grid, various analyses of the alarms may be conducted to produce various rankings of the alarms (e.g., by severity, graph analyses, etc.). In an embodiment, using power flow analysis, an optimal ranking is identified from the rankings in which a causal alarm is prioritized for resolution. Given the resolution of the causal alarm, remaining alarms (either all or a sub-set) may be resolved without further action. Thus, an embodiment provides an appropriate ranking of alarm conditions in a power grid such that the optimal resolution of alarms may be achieved. Other variants and embodiments are broadly contemplated herein.

  • Patent number: 8498200
Abstract: A system includes a first device connected to a second device The first device includes a second node connected to a first node and the second device via a link, and includes a backup second node connected to the first node and the second device via another link. The first node is configured to receive, via the link or the other link, a group of packets (i.e., “packets”), from the second device; display a first notification that the second node can be removed when the packets are received via only the other link; display a second notification indicating that the backup second node can be removed when the packets are received via only the link; and display a third notification indicating that neither the second node nor the backup second node can be removed when the packets are not received via only the link and via only the other link.
