  • Patent number: 8571393
Abstract: A recording medium (100) for a reservation of video recording of a program holds encoded compressed video information (1531) related to the program, a reservation set command (331) for setting a reservation of the program, and program attribute information (323) including at least a video recording reservation start date and time. When a viewer makes a selection to set a reservation of video recording while watching a preview video (200) based on the encoded compressed video information of the recording medium in a video recording/reproducing apparatus, the video recording/reproducing apparatus acquires the program attribute information (332) in accordance with the reservation set command (331) in the recording medium (100), thereby setting a reservation of video recording.

  • Patent number: 8526281
Abstract: Content information (CI) is recorded, and then control information including an encryption key is recorded. The area in which the content information (CI) is written is shifted with respect to the user area (UIA) in a playback-only disc. The control information (SI) is written with an identical shift. As a result of the shift, content information (CI) or dummy data (DD) is written in the area (SIA) in which control information is recorded in a playback-only disc. Information indicating the value of the shift is selected randomly and deleted when the disc is removed from the recording apparatus. When encrypted content is downloaded and recorded on a recordable optical disc, the complete content can be recorded on the disc correctly just once.

  • Patent number: 8335149
Abstract: A method for recording information which cannot be easily copied on a BCA is provided so as to prevent pirated copies from being made. The BCA recording device for optical discs records, on the BCA on an optical disc, identifying information unique to the optical disc. The BCA recording device is provided with: a BCA data generating section which generates BCA mark signals and BCA code signals which indicate the identifying information; a BCA mark generating section which, based on the BCA mark signals, generates BCA marks by recording marks on the recording film in the BCA on the optical disc, thereby partially changing the reflectance of the recording film; and a BCA code generating section which, based on the BCA code signals, generates BCA codes by partially removing the recording film on the BCA.

  • Patent number: 8260123
Abstract: In a system in which DVD contents authored in the past is to be downloaded and saved into a recording disk, such DVD contents are authored in such manner that they can be recorded into the recording disk without being re-authored, and copyright protection of the downloaded DVD contents can be strengthened. In this system, a disk image file is produced including data to be handled as main data among sectors, and header information of each of the sectors. The data of the DVD contents is divided into packets of a transport stream, and identification codes for the content and for a distribution destination of the content are added to each of the packets, thus enabling identification on a basis of the individual sectors. In a recording apparatus, the DVD contents can be recorded into a large-capacity optical disk or a hard disk based on these identification codes.

  • Patent number: 8210948
Abstract: A portable recording medium (100) stores video contents and icon information relating to an icon picture associated with the video contents and indicative of an operation mode corresponding to user operation of the recording medium reproducing apparatus (1). The recording medium reproducing apparatus (1) includes an image display plane (8) which is a frame memory area used for displaying video data of the video contents stored in the portable recording medium (100); a memory (15, 16) which stores the icon information stored in the portable recording medium (100); an OSD plane (18) which is a frame memory area used for displaying the icon picture on the basis of the icon information stored in the memory (15, 16); and a synthesizing device (10) which synthesizes the data held in the video display plane (8) and the data held in the information display plane (18), thereby outputting a superimposed video signal.

  • Publication number: 20110255846
Abstract: In a recording medium on which is recorded a multiplexed stream (231) including a plurality of first packets (V_main) constituting a first I-picture in a first video stream and a plurality of second packets (V_sub) constituting a second I-picture in a second video stream, information for identifying the first I-picture and information for identifying the second I-picture are recorded on the medium. A recording medium can thereby be obtained that enables the rapid detection, from a small amount of information, of a particular picture included in a stream such as a TS in which multiple content streams are multiplexed.

  • Publication number: 20110102559
Abstract: Stereoscopic video content is reproduced to obtain a first pair of images with mutual parallax producing a stereoscopic effect. A first stereoscopic adjustment on the first pair of images is carried out to obtain a second pair of images. A second stereoscopic adjustment on the second pair of images is carried out to obtain a third pair of images, which are displayed on a screen to respective eyes of the viewer. The first stereoscopic adjustment is carried out differently for different video sources. The second stereoscopic adjustment is the same for all sources. The combination of the first and second stereoscopic adjustments enables content from different sources to be displayed with an appropriate stereoscopic adjustment for each source.

  • Patent number: 7924693
Abstract: An optical disk physical has a recording region divided into zones, each zone including physical tracks adjacent to each other. An integer number of sectors are provided in each physical track. The angular recording density is higher in the more outward zones such that the linear recording density is substantially constant throughout the recording region, and logical tracks are formed of a predetermined number of sectors, independent of the physical tracks. The conversion between the logical track and sector addresses read from the disk and the linear logical addresses supplied from a host device is easy. The addresses written in headers of the sectors in the logical track in which data are actually recorded, including substitute sectors used in place of defect sectors, are preferably consecutive to further facilitate the conversion between the logical track and sector addresses read from the disk and the linear logical addresses supplied from the host device.

  • Publication number: 20110069153
Abstract: In a system for visualizing a stereoscopic image by displaying separate video images for the left and right eyes, sub-picture data (GRD) is created for the left eye and displayed superimposed on left-eye video data (VDD) as a left-eye sub-picture without change. The right-eye sub-picture (106) is displayed by shifting the horizontal positions at which the sub-picture data created for the left eye is displayed by prescribed widths. For example, the sub picture may include a plurality of objects (GRD-1, GRD-2, . . . , GRD-N); shift widths (108, 110) of the horizontal positions of the left and right ends of the objects are individually set and stored in the sub-picture data for displaying the objects for the right eye. A sub-picture superimposed on a stereoscopic video image can thereby be rendered in the depth direction, and the data size of the sub-picture and the amount of computation required for its display can be reduced.
