  • Patent number: 7801416
Abstract: Access point pictures designated as randomly accessible positions are I pictures or P pictures. Information indicating the decoding sequence (I1, P1, B1, B2, B3, B4, P2, . . . ) of pictures functioning as access points and attribute information (picture_type) indicating whether a picture functions as an access point or is necessary for decoding of the access point following a given access point are recorded on the video information recording medium. Random access is possible even if the GOP interval is lengthened.

  • Publication number: 20100202277
Abstract: Content information (CI) is recorded, and then control information including an encryption key is recorded. The area in which the content information (CI) is written is shifted with respect to the user area (UIA) in a playback-only disc. The control information (SI) is written with an identical shift. As a result of the shift, content information (CI) or dummy data (DD) is written in the area (SIA) in which control information is recorded in a playback-only disc. Information indicating the value of the shift is selected randomly and deleted when the disc is removed from the recording apparatus. When encrypted content is downloaded and recorded on a recordable optical disc, the complete content can be recorded on the disc correctly just once.

  • Publication number: 20100098390
Abstract: Problem: In a system in which a plurality of required contents is to be saved into a recording disk after a user has downloaded desired contents from among DVD contents accumulated in a server and once recorded them into a hard disk, DVD packaged contents authored in the past are utilized without re-authoring the contents therein, and copyright protection of the contents in the download distribution is strengthened. Solution: A disk image file is produced in such a manner that data to be handled as main data among sectors of a DVD disk and header information of each of the sectors are included in data of a DVD content to be distributed from the server. By dividing into synchronization frames of the DVD to be stored on a packet basis of a transport stream, and by adding to each of the packets, identification codes for the content and for a distribution destination of the content, identification is enabled on a basis of the individual sectors for the DVD.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method, which make it possible to collect a plurality of the contents authored for DVD to record easily them on a large-capacity information record medium and to increase a data rate in reproducing the recorded contents, perform the processes of: creating source packets from a disk image file; collecting them to form arrangement units 320; collecting them to form ECC clusters; collecting sectors of the DVD to form a sector group, thereby storing it while bringing it into correspondence with a predetermined number of source packets; adding a control packet to this to form units of conversion; collecting them to bring them into correspondence with an integral number of the arrangement units 320; and storing a cluster-number, at which a leading sector of the sector group of the DVD is stored in the control packet; wherein the source packets are brought into correspondence so that a leading portion of the file system area coincides with both a leading portion of the arrangement unit and a leadi

  • Patent number: 7548497
Abstract: An optical disk physical has a recording region divided into zones, each zone including physical tracks adjacent to each other. An integer number of sectors are provided in each physical track. The angular recording density is higher in the more outward zones such that the linear recording density is substantially constant throughout the recording region, and logical tracks are formed of a predetermined number of sectors. independent of the physical tracks. The conversion between the logical track and sector addresses read from the disk and the linear logical addresses supplied from a host device is easy. The addresses written in headers of the sectors in the logical track in which data are actually recorded, including substitute sectors used in place of defect sectors, are preferably consecutive to further facilitate the conversion between the logical track and sector addresses read from the disk and the linear logical addresses supplied from the host device.

  • Publication number: 20080299445
Abstract: A chargeable and dischargeable lithium cell and the filter unit capable of absorbing flammable materials are housed inside a casing. When an overvoltage is impressed from a battery charger to a battery pack and then internal gases inside the lithium cell are discharged out of an explosion-proof valve, the flammable materials included in internal gases are absorbed by the filter unit to change the internal gases into nonflammable gases. The internal gases purified by passing through the filter unit are exhausted from a gas-vent opening to the outside of the casing. By providing the filter unit inside the casing, the flammable materials discharged out of the lithium cell 1 can be prevented from leaking to the outside of the casing.

  • Patent number: 7406409
Abstract: A system and method summarizes multimedia stored in a compressed multimedia file partitioned into a sequence of segments, where the content of the multimedia is, for example, video signals, audio signals, text, and binary data. An associated metadata file includes index information and an importance level for each segment. The importance information is continuous over as closed interval. An importance level threshold is selected in the closed interval, and only segments of the multimedia having a particular importance level greater than the importance level threshold are reproduced. The importance level can also be determined for fixed-length windows of multiple segments, or a sliding window. Furthermore, the importance level can be weighted by a factor, such as the audio volume.
