  • Patent number: 7289796
Abstract: To provide a mobile communications terminal device that can identify an originator in a unit of group or a discriminating ringing by depending on the kind of an incoming identification tone without regard to a display, and acquire information designating the originator in accordance with an external specification. In a mobile communications terminal device 1, if there is any matched data in a retrieval from a telephone directory, the call is informed with an incoming identification tone specified by the kind of a call incoming and a telephone directory of a memory 17. If a switch is pressed on an operation section 11, a ringing of incoming identification tone from a voice output section 13 is stopped, and the voice information converted from a character string registered in the telephone directory of the memory 17 is output from the voice output section 13.

  • Patent number: 6876847
Abstract: A mobile communication terminal has a melody sound source for simultaneously producing the sounds of a plurality of sound parts of melody data, a vibrator for vibrating a casing in response to a preset action, and a light-emitting diode for emitting light in response to a preset action. A melody timing output circuit in the melody sound source outputs a signal that determines the sounds of a given part of the melody data to a controller. The controller has analyzed the melody data of the given part, and determined, in advance, contents to be displayed, and performs a display control process in response to the signal output from the melody timing output circuit.

  • Patent number: 6295462
Abstract: A portable radio information terminal is provided that can prevent the radio section built in the cover for covering the main body from being adversely affected by noises generated in the information processing section built in the main body. The main body 1 includes an information processing section which chiefly consists of a control section acting as a main noise generating source. The cover 2, which covers the upper surface of the main body 1, includes a radio section 17 containing the receiving section, a whip antenna 7 and an inverted-F antenna 9. The cover 2 is mechanically coupled to the main body 1 by means of the shaft 20. The ground conductor 8 for the inverted-F antenna 9 is disposed on the back surface of the cover 2, or faces the upper surface of the main body 1, to effectively block noises from the main body 1. The terminal includes the whip antenna 7 and the inverted-F antenna 9 each disposed at the end of the cover 2.

  • Patent number: 6133848
Abstract: In a radio display pager, a message and a call number of a message destination are transmitted from a speaker in the form of an audible frequency data signal to a paging network. Receiving a transmission radio wave emitted from the network, the pager extracts therefrom a call number and a message to compare these items with the ID call number of the pager, or with the call number of the message destination stored in its memory. When a match results, the call number of the message destination and the message are displayed on an LCD. This guarantees confirmation of the contents of the call number and the message sent from the pager and transmission thereof from the paging network.

  • Patent number: 6097932
Abstract: A radio selective calling receiver having a multiarea function includes a reception channel reception enable/disable information storage means. In a normal operation, only a specific frame is intermittently received using a predetermined first channel. When a synchronization signal is not received in a synchronization state wherein intermittent reception is being performed, the number of times of consecutive nonreception is counted. When the consecutive nonreception count has reached a predetermined value, it is determined that an out-of-area state is set. Before the consecutive nonreception count reaches the predetermined value, the synchronization signal of another frame different from the specific frame is received using another channel other than the first channel, and reception enable/disable information for the another channel is stored.

  • Patent number: 6041218
Abstract: A selective calling receiver displays information corresponding to frequencies assigned to radio areas. When the receiver tunes a receiving frequency, a scrolling circuit of the receiver scrolls the information based on a changeable scrolling order, which may be decided automatically or by a user of the receiver.

  • Patent number: 6008738
Abstract: In a radio display pager, a memory has message fields and corresponding attribute fields. When a message is received, it is stored in one of the message fields which are vacant. A message stored in one of the message fields is then displayed in response to the operation of a manual operated key. A protect indication is stored into the attribute field of the displayed message if the key is not subsequendy operated within a predetermined time interval. If the key is operated within that interval, a protect indication, if present in the attribute field of the displayed message, is deleted. If a new message is received when the message fields are already full, an unprotected old message is discarded to vacate a message field in which the new message is stored.

  • Patent number: 5937356
Abstract: In a radio selective call receiver for lowering a radio signal level in accordance with the state where reception of a sync signal is enabled/disabled, an amplifier 53 amplifies a radio signal fed from a base station. A frequency converter 54 shifts a frequency of the radio signal amplified in the amplifier 53 to a first frequency band and a second frequency band. A demodulator 55 converts a radio signal shifted to the second frequency band by the frequency converter 54 into a base band signal. A level detector 56 outputs a direct current voltage relative to an electric field intensity level of the radio signal shifted to the second frequency band by the frequency converter 54. A comparator 57 compares the direct current voltage output from the level detector 56 with a predetermined voltage.

  • Patent number: 5809411
Abstract: A radio pager capable of changing the reception frequency thereof, as desired, and having a replaceable crystal oscillator. A reception frequency selecting device selects one of call signals having a plurality of predetermined frequencies which matches the crystal oscillator. A casing is formed with a first opening for allowing the crystal oscillator to be selectively attached to or detached from a printed circuit board, and a second opening for allowing the oscillator to be selectively inserted into or pulled out of the casing.

  • Patent number: 5774061
Abstract: A radio selective calling receiver which can continuously display a specified message during call-waiting state. The radio selective calling receiver has a RAM for storing messages, an LCD (liquid crystal display) and a CPU (central processing unit). The CPU causes a received message to be stored in the RAM, causes the received message to be displayed on the LCD from the time of receiving the message until a prescribed auto-reset time has elapsed, halts message display and transits to a normal call-waiting state after passage of the auto-reset time, and if a message stored in the RAM contains a predetermined specified character string such as "--", causes the message containing the specified character string to be displayed on the LCD during the call-waiting state.

  • Patent number: 5767787
Abstract: A radio selective call receiver that alerts a user to reception of a call signal by mechanical vibration achieves miniaturization and reduction in thickness by using a sounding body as a reception informing means. The sounding body is selected among reception informing means by a switch. The sounding body generates a non-audio frequency, thus preventing the mechanical vibration from producing an undesired sound. The bottom of the receiver is adapted to be in close contact with a human body wearing the receiver. When a call signal is received, the sounding body oscillates at the non-audio frequency, the sound wave passes through slits to cause vibration, and the user carrying the receiver is alerted tactilely that a call signal is being received.

  • Patent number: 5764157
Abstract: In a radio paging receiver with a display unit, a paging number corresponds to an information field to be received, a special portion of a message corresponds to an individual information item, in the information field, which is to be received, and the remaining portion of the message corresponds to information associated with the information item. The receiver comprises an input section for selecting an individual information item to be received, a storage/display section for storing and displaying an individual information item selected by the input section and information associated with the information item, and an update section for updating the storage/display section upon reception of a new message only when (a) a specific portion of the message corresponds to the selected individual information item, and (b) information associated with the information item changes.
