  • Patent number: 5726642
Abstract: A selective calling radio receiver includes a message memory for distinguishably storing the message as non-read message and read message, and a control portion. The control portion performs a non-read alarm when the non-read message is stored in the message memory and a normal alarm when there is no non-read message stored therein. The control portion also has a function of performing a call alarm termination and display of message and storing the message in the message memory as a read message when a switch for requesting termination of the call alarm is pushed at a time of a call alarm and terminating the call alarm and storing the message in the message memory as a non-read message when the switch is not operate after a specific period of time.

  • Patent number: 5678050
Abstract: When a primary battery voltage detector of a the wireless selective call receiver detects the voltage drop of a primary batter, it transmits a voltage drop signal to a CPU. The CPU receives the voltage drop signal to transmit an alarm data to a control section of an information processing apparatus through an I/F circuit. The control section control a display section to display an alarm message and an speaker drive circuit such that an alarm sound is outputted from a speaker. Further, the CPU controls a power supply control circuit to connect a power supply of the information processing apparatus to the wireless selective call receiver without any instantaneous power down so that the selective call receiver can continuously receive an information and/or a program.

  • Patent number: 5627525
Abstract: A display-equipped radio pager according to the present invention provides a detecting circuit 6 to detect keywords which are distinguished by a specific mark such as double quotation marks for each message received, and another detecting circuit to detect whether the received keyword is already registered in the memory or not. The pager also provides a registering circuit to automatically register the received data related to the keyword into the memory. When a signal including its own call number is received, a call alert is issued, and a display means 8 displays a message included within that signal on a display 9. In addition, when a keyword is detected, the detecting circuit 14 detects whether the received keyword within that message is already registered in the memory or not and, if the same keyword is detected, a registering circuit 15 then registers the data related to the keyword within the message into the memory 10 as additional data.

  • Patent number: 5532688
Abstract: In order to allow a user of a selective calling receiver to accurately hear and recognize a received message in accordance with his or her pace when the message is outputted, the selective calling receiver includes a speech data storage device for storing speech data corresponding to a predetermined message, a speech output device for outputting speech on the basis of the speech data stored in the speech data storage device, and a first speech output control device for reading out speech data corresponding to a message contained in a received selective call signal from the speech data storage device and causing the speech output device to output speech on the basis of the speech data.

  • Patent number: 5499398
Abstract: A selective calling receiver comprises two separate bands having an antenna circuit for tuning incorporated therein. The first band has a first antenna and tuning capacitors incorporated therein and stoppers formed and arrayed on the outer surface thereof. Predetermined points are provided to the first antenna, providing different effective antenna lengths, respectively. The respective stoppers are provided with electrodes which are connected to the predetermined points of the first antenna through the tuning capacitors, respectively. The second band has a second antenna and a hook. The hook can be engaged with a selected one of the stoppers of the first band depending on the user's wrist thickness. The hook comprises a conductor electrically connected to the second antenna. When engaged with a selected one of the stoppers, the hook brings into electrical contact with the corresponding electrode to form the antenna circuit.

  • Patent number: 5471204
Abstract: In a radio communication apparatus for use in carrying out a receiving operation of selectively receiving a call signal specific to the apparatus, a counter is counted up one by one to produce a count each time when the call signal is received. The count is successively compared with a plurality of threshold values by a control section to determine a controllable perceptual notifying mode which may be at least one of an audible and a visual notifying modes. In the audible notifying mode, the control section varies a volume of an audible tone through a tone generator in dependency upon the count. In the visual notifying mode, display elements, such as light emitting diodes, provide visual displays which are different from one another and which are determined by the count. Such variations of the audible tone and/or the visual displays are helpful for notifying a possessor of reception of the call signal.

  • Patent number: 5434563
Abstract: In a paging receiver having a plurality of receiver modes, an announcing arrangement is controlled at a particular time instant determined at a specific time instant which is previous to the particular time instant. The paging receiver is provided with a switch which is switchable to a plurality of conditions of selecting the receiver modes one at a time. A control part inspects the switch to produce a condition signal representative of one of the conditions to which the switch is switched. Responsive to the condition signal, the control part controls the announcing arrangement at the particular time instant.

  • Patent number: 5332960
Abstract: A power supply circuit includes a power supply stabilizing circuit, a reset circuit, and a switching circuit. The power supply stabilizing circuit stabilizes a power supply voltage from a power supply and applying the voltage to a main circuit. The reset circuit outputs a reset signal to the main circuit when the power supply voltage rises. The switching circuit is connected to the power supply stabilizing circuit. The switching circuit stops supply of power to the reset circuit when the voltage applied to the main circuit becomes a value not more than a predetermined value after supply of power is interrupted.

  • Patent number: 5148160
Abstract: A radio communication apparatus for receiving radio signals at a predetermined period when a power source switch is put in an on state and when the apparatus is in a service area of a base station. A timer circuit times a preselected time interval, substantially equal to the predetermined period, beginning at a time instant at which the switch is turned from an off state to the on state and produces a time-out signal after the preselected time interval has elapsed. Each radio signal carries a synchronization signal and an additional signal. A detecting circuit detects a timing at which a synchronizing circuit is in a synchronized state wherein a timing clock signal produced by a clock generating circuit is synchronized with the synchronization signal. The detecting circuit produces a detection signal when the detecting circuit detects the timing before reception of the time-out signal.

  • Patent number: 5007105
Abstract: A watch type paging receiver which may be put on person's wrist by a belt includes a body on which a display device such as a liquid crystal display device is provided. An inverted F-shaped main antenna is implemented by a part of the display device. A loop antenna is provided in addition to the main antenna and implemented by the belt. The main and loop antennas are selectively rendered active depending upon the level of a received signal. Even when the length of the belt is changed to suit person's wrist, accurate matching is established on the basis of the resulting length of the belt. A primary battery in the form of a solar battery and a secondary battery are associated with the receiver body and the belt, respectively. A vibration source which is adapted for tactual alerting forms a part of the belt.
