  • Patent number: 4466444
Abstract: An ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus includes an insertion section formed by a flexible elongate tube having a distal end portion and a proximal end portion. A driving shaft passes through the flexible elongate tube of the insertion section between a control section at the proximal end of the insertion section, and an ultrasonic transducer arranged for rotation at the distal end portion of the insertion section. The driving shaft includes a flexible elongate member formed by a pair of coils closely fitted coaxially one within the other. The coils have different winding directions thus providing circumferential rigidity when the driving shaft is rotated by a driving source at the control section. A signal cable is routed through the inside space of the coils forming the driving shaft and connects at one end with the transducer. The other end of the signal cable connects with a rotary terminal arrangement at the end of the driving shaft located at the control section.

  • Patent number: 4442842
Abstract: With an ultrasonic scanner for coeliac examination, the distal end of the insertion section is provided with a distal end part consisting of a beam-scanning section and beam transmitting and receiving section. The beam-scanning section comprises a beam mirror set in a beam-scanning chamber formed in a casing. A reflection plane formed at one end of the beam mirror is inclined at an angle of, for example, 45.degree. to its rotation axis. The beam mirror is rotated by means of a mirror shaft and flexible shaft. The beam transmitting and receiving section comprises a holder in which a vibrator is set. The holder is securely fitted into a receptacle formed in the casing by the threaded engagement of a fitting cap with the receptacle. The vibrator is electrically connected to the insertion body in a detachable state.

  • Patent number: 4374525
Abstract: An insert section of an ultrasonic probe device which is bendably coupled by means of a hinge with two rotation shafts rotatably disposed within an insert section that is coupled to a universal joint. The distal tube can be bent freely by operating a control knob at a control section, so that an ultrasonic transducer member at the tip of the distal tube may be brought closely into contact with the body wall.
