    Abstract: An intake air duct serves as a passage for supplying air to an engine, and includes a first intake air passage, a second intake air passage, an opening-and-closing valve, an interlocking member and a coiled spring. The opening-and-closing valve is disposed swingably in the second intake air passage so as to open and close the second intake air passage. The interlocking member is disposed outside the first intake air passage or the second intake air passage, and swings by interlocking with the swinging of the opening-and-closing valve. The coiled spring is disposed swingably outside the first intake air passage or the second intake air passage, and has a swinging end, which is brought into contact with a surface of the interlocking member. The swinging end slides on a surface of the interlocking member as the swinging of the interlocking member.

    Abstract: An intake duct capable of reducing intake noise when an engine runs at a low speed and supplying a sufficiently large amount of air when the engine runs at a high speed without using any electron control circuit or electromagnetic valve, which is produced at low costs. The intake duct includes valve adjusting means which restrains the movement of the valve member when the valve member brings a second intake passage from the closed state to the open state, and facilitates the movement of the valve member when the valve member brings the second intake passage from the open state to the closed state. When the second intake passage is brought to the open state from the closed state, the restraining force of the valve adjusting means is great to restrain the movement of the valve member, and when the second intake passage is brought to the closed state from the open state, the valve member readily pivots to open the second intake passage.

    Abstract: A cup holder has a retractable body and a receptacle. The receptacle is fixed to a vehicle and the body is slidably engaged with the receptacle and movable from a first retracted position inside the receptacle to second extracted, cup-holding position. A portion of the body extends outside the receptacle to hold a cup. The cup holder includes a movable cup support member moving with respect to the body from a first lifted position when the body is retracted to a second lowered position for supporting a bottom of the cup when the body is in the second cup-holding position. A cam surface is fixed to the receptacle. A follower is connected to the cup-support and engaging the cam surface such that the follower causes the cup support to pivot from its raised position to its lowered position according to the shape of the cam surface when the body is extended and from its first position to its second position. The follower is in continuous engagement with the cam surface at all positions of the body.

    Abstract: The air-conditioning grille comprises an inner case having an opening through which the wind blows out located in a wind blowing duct. In the duct, provided are plural wind deflecting plates which are bendable so as to make both the ends thereof extend substantially crossing the blowing direction. In the duct provided is a connecting member which connects the upstream ends of the wind deflecting plates together and restricts rotations of these connecting portions relative to each other. Also provided is an operation member to be operated to bend the wind deflecting plates. One transfer shaft is provided to transfer an operational force of the operation member, at the time of its operation, to the connecting member. In order to prevent the connecting member from rotating itself about the transfer shaft with operation of the operation member, rotation moments of the connecting member about the transfer shaft substantially cancel one another.

    Abstract: Wind deflecting plates of an air conditioning grille include flexible plates are made of a thermoplastic material, so that they may bend to smoothly change the direction of wind when the deflecting plates are swung, and front and rear supports for the flexible plates. The material for the front and rear supports is of the same type as the material for the flexible plate and has a melting point close to that of the flexible plate but a hardness and stiffness different from the material of the flexible plate. The supports support the associated flexible plate at the windward and leeward ends thereof, respectively, and urge the flexible plate when bent to return to the flat state. At the end surface facing a blower rotor, the rear support has an arc portion having a shape corresponding to the outer surface of the rotor.

    Abstract: A grille for air conditioning for the instrument panel of an automobile is provided which includes a main case having an opening for blowing out a wind and a plurality of curvable wind direction adjusting plates supported so as to be rotatable relative to the main case. A support member supports the distal edges of the wind direction adjusting plates. The support member has extension plates respectively extending along an extending plane of the distal edge of each wind direction adjusting plate and coupling plates coupling the extension plates with each other. Each extension plate has a groove for receiving the distal edge which is not rotatable against the extension plate. The support member is movable on a circular locus relative to the main case, the arc having a shorter radius of curvature than a span between the two edges of the wind direction adjusting plate in an unstressed configuration.
