  • Patent number: 6158474
Abstract: A reliable sleeve unit with a water-absorbing swelling rubber that provides a reliable seal to a branch hole and the branch stop while controlling the development of rust. The rubber layer is applied on a cylindrical metal sleeve having a flange on its outer circumference in a manner such that a certain height length of the metal sleeve from its bottom end face is left uncovered. The height length of the flange is set to be long enough for the flange to be inserted into the inner circumference of the branch pipe to be connected to the branch hole. The rubber layer is applied onto the metal sleeve in a manner such that the height length of the rubber layer coating the metal sleeve is approximately equal to the wall height of the branch hole, or in a manner such that the bottom edge of the rubber layer is set to be higher than the bottom end face of the metal sleeve.

  • Patent number: 6129368
Abstract: An industrial vehicle having an axle pivotally supported on a frame. The vehicle includes a damper for connecting the axle to the frame. The damper allows pivotal motion of the axle when the damper expands or contracts. A conduit is connected to the damper for supplying oil to the damper and for discharging the oil from the damper. A control valve is connected to the conduit to selectively open and close the conduit. A controller controls the control valve. Oil is permitted to enter and exit when the conduit is opened by the control valve. The supply of the oil from the conduit is closed by the control valve. A pressure adjuster is connected to the conduit for accommodating increases in the oil pressure in the conduit when the conduit is opened and for replenishing the conduit with oil due to losses from leakage.

  • Patent number: 6082742
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the tilt of a rear axle of a forklift is disclosed. A locking mechanism, which includes a hydraulic damper and a shutoff valve, locks the rear axle against tilt. A controller determines that a locking condition for locking the rear axle is satisfied when at least one of the centrifugal acceleration acting on the forklift and the rate of change of the yaw rate is equal to or greater than a predetermined determination value. The controller estimates the location of the center of gravity in the fore-and-aft direction of the forklift based on the tilt angle of a forks, the height of the forks and weight of an object on the forks. When determining that the driving force of the drive wheels is not sufficiently transmitted to the road surface based on the estimated location of the center of gravity, the controller does not permit the locking of the rear axle even if the locking condition is satisfied.

  • Patent number: 6056501
Abstract: An axle tilt control apparatus for forklifts is disclosed. The forklift includes a rear axle pivotally supported by a body frame and a front axle rigidly fixed to the body frame. A mast is supported at the front portion of the body frame to tilt forward and backward. Forks are supported by the mast to be lifted and lowered. The center of gravity of the forklift in the fore-and-aft direction approaches the front axle as the mast is tilted forward. Pivoting of the rear axle is restricted by the hydraulic cylinder when the height of the forks is higher than a predetermined height determination value and the weight of a load on the forks is heavier than a predetermined weight determination value to improve the vehicle's stability. The weight determination value increases as the mast is tilted forward. When a load on the forks is being unloaded, tilting of the rear axle is permitted regardless of the height of the forks and the weight of the load on the forks. Therefore, the rear axle is not unnecessarily locked.

  • Patent number: 6047229
Abstract: An industrial vehicle including a frame, an axle pivotally mounted on the frame, a restriction mechanism for restricting the pivotal movement of the axle, a pair of vehicle wheels rotatably supported on the axle, and a steering mechanism having a steering wheel for steering the vehicle wheels in accordance with rotation of the steering wheel. A first detecting device detects an angular position of the steering wheel. The angular position represents a steering amount of the steering wheel. A second detecting device detects a wheel angle. The wheel angle is the angle between a plane perpendicular to a rotation axis of the vehicle wheel and a line representing straight running of the vehicle. A third detecting device detects a yaw rate of the vehicle. A fourth detecting device detects a vehicle speed. A calculating mechanism calculates a plurality of variables based on the detected angular position of the steering wheel, wheel angle, yaw rate and vehicle speed.

  • Patent number: 5971441
Abstract: A rust-resistant cylindrical metal sleeve for preventing rust and corrosion from developing around the wall of a branch hole when the sleeve is rigidly fitted into a branch hole that is drilled through the wall of a metal conduit such as a water pipeline. The sleeve has a projecting portion on its outer circumference and an inner flange portion inwardly projecting at its lower end. The metal sleeve on its outer circumference is coated with a water-absorbing swelling rubber into which a synthetic resin rubber and a water-absorbing polymer are blended. Preferably, 100 parts by weight of styrene-butadiene rubber or ethylene-propylene-dienemetylene linkage rubber is blended with 10 to 40 parts by weight of the water-absorbing polymer. Since the water-absorbing swelling rubber increases its volume as it absorbs water, pressure in the rubber increases, preventing water ingress through between the metal sleeve and the wall of the branch hole.

  • Patent number: 4896951
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lens mount assembly for use in photographic camera, video camera and other various optical instruments. Usually, electric drive units for focussing and zooming, respectively, are gear-coupled to such lens mount assembly and drive torque from these drive units often causes deviation, deflection and eccentricity of the lens mount assembly, and additionally causes unreliable gear-coupling of the drive units and deteriorated image forming capability of the optical systems. The present invention provides a barrel supporting mechanism adapted to slidably support a front section of the lens mount assembly in order to overcome these problems. The present invention further provides the lens mount assembly with a simplified dust-proof mechanism utilizing a floating ring.

  • Patent number: 4835694
Abstract: An automatic transmission includes a torque converter with a directly coupled clutch. A plurality of rotational speed sensors are used in the control of a lockup and a shifting operation. The invention provides an arrangement to detect any abnormality associated with such sensors. Under the lockup condition of the torque converter, a speed Ve detected by an engine rotational speed sensor, and speeds Vsp1 and Vsp2 detected by a first and a second vehicle speed sensor and a speed ratio K.sub.1 of a change gearing are used to detect any abnormality associated with the three sensors. All of the sensors are determined to be properly functioning when the equalities Ve=K.sub.1 .multidot.Vsp1 and Ve=K.sub.1 .multidot.Vsp2 apply. The first vehicle speed sensor is determined to be faulty when the former equation applies while the latter equation does not apply, and the second vehicle speed sensor is determined to be faulty when the former equality applies while the latter does not apply.

  • Patent number: 4825366
Abstract: A lockup control system for a torque converter with a directly coupled clutch is disclosed. A gear ratio of the torque converter is detected as is a throttle valve opening. A gear ratio data (as a reference data) which is previously assigned to a throttle valve opening is read from ROM, and is compared against the detected gear ratio. If the latter is equal to or greater than the former, a lockup command is provided, and a prevailing vehicle speed is written into a register. When a lockup condition is established, the current vehicle speed is compared against the vehicle speed stored in the register, and whenever the former becomes equal to or less than the latter from which .DELTA.V is subtracted, the lockup is terminated. Reference data is provided in three groups corresponding to three temperature regions of the torque converter.
