  • Patent number: 4902147
Abstract: A printing apparatus in which a holder, bearing a type carrier thereon, and a carriage, moving along a printing line, are coupled together by means of an engaging member and a coupling plate formed integrally with the holder and the carriage, respectively. The coupling plate has a surface extending along the transfer direction of the carriage and formed with an opening. The engaging member extends transverse to the carriage transfer direction so as to engage the opening. By this engagement, the holder is moved as one with the carriage, with respect to the carriage transfer direction. With respect to a direction transverse to the carriage transfer direction, the holder is allowed to move between a printable position, where the holder is situated close to a platen, and a retracted position, where the holder is situated wide apart from the platen.

  • Patent number: 4901053
Abstract: A signal is received from a key having predetermined information. A discriminator determines whether the received signal from the receiver represents the predetermined information. An actuator performs a predetermined anti-theft operation in response to output signals from first and second detectors indicating that at least one predetermined one of the covering members is closed and locked. The operation of the actuator is disabled in response to an output signal from the discriminator indicating that the received signal represents the predetermined information. The key includes a magnetic element forming first predetermined information, and light emitting elements for emitting infrared ray carrying second predetermined information. The actuator performs the predetermined anti-theft operation in response to an output signal from a third detector indicating that the key has been removed from a predetermined key hole, in addition to the output signals from the first and second detectors.

  • Patent number: 4890251
Abstract: A shifter for shifting a first data word by a bit width which is specified by a second data word. The shifter provides a sign extension so that the shifter can be used for arithmetic shifts. The shifter includes a first inverter for inverting the bits of the first data word only when the most significant bit of the data word is a predetermined datum. The output from the inverter is shifted, using a shifter array, by a bit width specified by the second data word. The output from the shifter array is provided to a second inverter. The second inverter inverts the output from the shifter array only if the most significant bit of the first data word is a predetermined datum.

  • Patent number: 4813612
Abstract: A paper feeding device having a document tray attached to a specified position of an image processing apparatus, a paper cassette mounted onto a specific position in the image processing apparatus in a manner that can be pulled out, and a preliminary feed roller to carry the paper set on the document tray toward a feed roller which is normally energized in paper pressing direction. When a sheet of paper is inserted, the preliminary feed roller is moved in the opposite direction against the energizing force under a balanced condition in transversal direction by a guide member which is turned upward. When the paper cassette is mounted in the image processing apparatus, the document setting board disposed in the paper cassette is upwardly turned by a pressing mechanism. When the paper cassette is pulled out, the feed roller to feed out paper from the paper cassette is turned in reversed direction.

  • Patent number: 4787003
Abstract: A magnetic head integrally assembled with a step-up transformer. The magnetic head portion is formed on a lower substrate by a thin film technology and the number of turns of the signal winding is 1 or a value near 1. The transformer portion mainly comprises a transformer magnetic circuit which is formed by the lower substrate and upper substrate. A one-turn primary coil of a thin film formed over the lower substrate and a secondary coil by a bulk wire are arranged so as to couple inductively with each other through the transformer magnetic circuit. The signal winding and the primary coil winding are formed by the same thin film process. The head portion and the transformer portion thus are arranged very closely and hence coupled with very little transfer loss of signal.

  • Patent number: 4783806
Abstract: A partial pattern A.sub.(p,q) between time points "i" and "q" on the time base of an input pattern is obtained by a partial pattern forming section, on the basis of an input speech as detected by a speech detection section. A reference pattern memory section stores the reference pattern B.sup.n for every word number "n", which are previously set for every "n". A normalizing function, which depends on the time duration q-p+1 of the partial pattern as obtained by said partial pattern forming section and the time duration J.sub.n of the reference pattern as stored in the reference pattern memory section, provides a normalized similarity measure. The normalized similarity thus obtained is maximized by the dynamic programming algorithm in a partial maximum similarity computing section. The maximum value of the maximized result for "n" is obtained as a partial maximum similarity measure D.sub.q. In a similarity decision section, a registered word "n" providing the similarity measure D.sub.
