  • Publication number: 20030037899
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided to process collected sand. This method and apparatus allow the moisture content to be adjusted and the addition of a binder to be facilitated to renew the collected sand as casting sand for future use. Also, defective castings are prevented when they are made by a main mold using the renewed casting sand. The sand-collecting means can be compact. The method is performed and the apparatus is operated by separating a main mold of green sand, after casting is conducted, into parts unaffected and affected by the molten metal heat, adjusting the moisture content of the part unaffected by molten metal heat for use as facing sand in the next main mold making, and adding a binder and adjusting the moisture content of the part affected by the molten metal heat for use as back sand in making the next main mold.

  • Publication number: 20020150393
Abstract: When a request for storage is input, a storage and reconstruction control unit transmits an intra-frame request signal to an image signal transmitting apparatus and also transmits a storage start signal to a coded signal storage unit. When the intra-frame request signal is received, a coding control unit of the image signal transmitting apparatus controls an image coding unit to code the entirety of an image in the intra-frame coding mode and transmits the coded image signal in which the entirety of an image is intra-frame coded to the image signal storage and reconstruction apparatus. The image decoding unit of the image signal storage and reconstruction apparatus decodes the coded image signal and the storage and reconstruction control unit starts the storage with the coded image signal in which the entirety of an image is coded, responsive to the storage start signal.

  • Publication number: 20020118862
Abstract: A coded stream analyzer (102) variable-length decodes an incoming coded stream and extracts encoding parameters for each macroblock, such as an encoding mode, DCT coefficient values, the amount of codes of DCT coefficients, the amount of codes of each macroblock, and a motion vector, from the coded stream. An effective macroblock identification unit (103) then identifies macroblocks each of which can be contained in a moving object as an effective macroblock by using one or more encoding parameters extracted by the coded stream analyzer (102).

  • Publication number: 20020110044
Abstract: Given green sand is obtained by a mixing operation that is carried out for a short period of time. Discarded sand is supplied as supplementary sand to a sand processing line, so that molding sand can be recycled. Green sand for a molding is used for facing sand or the pocket sand. Bentonite-covered sand is made by mixing reproduced sand, new sand, and discarded sand or any or all of them. The bentonite-covered sand is added to collected sand to supplement it. Also, the bentonite-covered sand is mixed with water, and used for facing sand or the pocket sand.

  • Patent number: 5733820
Abstract: Silicon material layers formed on an oxide underlayer are attached using a plasma including a gas mixture of a halogen and oxygen. Intensities of first emissions from the plasma at a first wavelength and second emissions from the plasma at a second wavelength are measured. A ratio of the first emissions intensity to the second emissions intensity is determined. The selectivity of silicon layers to oxide underlayers is measured for various conditions of the plasma under which the emissions intensity ratio is obtained. A correlation between the emissions intensity ratio and the selectivity is then established for various etching parameters. A plasma condition to obtain a desired selectivity may then be appropriately set using the established correlation.
