  • Publication number: 20050174510
Abstract: A difference in potential between a common power supply voltage and a data signal voltage required for driving an active-type liquid crystal display device is used, thereby making it possible to display a pictogram without additionally input a new signal to an opposite side. Moreover, a gray scale of a data signal is adjusted, thereby reducing a direct-current component in pictogram driving. A pictogram electrode in a pictogram display area is driven by a part of extra output terminals of a data driver for driving a moving image display area. With this, in a liquid crystal display device using thin-film transistors (TFTs) with a common substrate being an electrode on its entire surface, a simple structure including a moving image area and a pictogram display area is provided.

  • Patent number: 5699531
Abstract: A computer system includes first and second subsystems. The first subsystem is provided with a function of generating control data of message data. The second subsystem does not have such a function. The message data is stored in the second subsystem. When the second subsystem transmits the message data, the second subsystem sends format information of the message data to the first subsystem. The first subsystem generates intermediate control data referring to the format information. When the first subsystem encounters an operation requiring reference to the message data, the first subsystem skips this operation. As a result, some portions of the intermediate control data remain blank. The first subsystem sends the intermediate control data back to the second subsystem. The second subsystem generates the control data from the intermediate control data referring to the message data stored therein. Thus, the control data is generated without exchanging the message data between the first and second subsystems.

  • Patent number: 5376881
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for testing a self-commutative electric power conversion device, capable of verifying the maximum voltage stress and the maximum current stress in the main circuit of the device by using a testing facility equipped with the power source and the load having relatively small capacities. The pulse shaped turn on and turn off signals are supplied to the switching elements in the self-commutative electric power conversion device, such that a load current having a desired current level for testing flows though an inductive load connected to an AC output side of the self-commutative electric power conversion device having the DC capacitor charged to a desired voltage level for testing.

  • Patent number: 4748944
Abstract: A reed valve device for a 2-cycle engine includes a valve housing having several ports extending thereinto from a surface thereof. Several reed valves each have one end secured to the housing and can move between a position spaced from the surface and a position disposed against the surface and obstructing a respective port. Two main shafts are rotatably supported on the housing, and are coupled for synchronous rotation by a gear plate arrangement. Each main shaft has thereon a stopper which can move between positions engaging and spaced from the reed valve in response to rotational movement of the associated shaft, engagement of a stopper and a reed valve effecting an increase in a spring constant of the reed valve. When the engine exceeds a predetermined speed, a motor rotates the shafts to move the stoppers into engagement with the reed valves.

  • Patent number: 4001785
Abstract: A scanning circuit successively scans a multiplicity of input points, producing respective binary signals representing corresponding status in a chemical or electrical industry. The scanned output is stored in an update memory at an address which corresponds to each of the input points. Each of the scanned output is also compared with a signal read out from this memory which stores the result of the previous scanning, and in the absence of coincidence therebetween, the address corresponding to that input point and its associated status are stored in a temporary store. A second or main memory is accessed by an address signal which comprises the address of that input point and its associated status which are read out from the temporary store, so as to supply information representative of that input point, for example, the name of a particular instrument and its associated status, to a recorder for the purpose of recording.

  • Patent number: 3946625
Abstract: A detecting float is normally made floating on a first liquid, and when a liquid to be detected having a specific gravity less than the first liquid is oncoming, the detecting float sinks relative to the new liquid level as compared with the position which it assumed relative to the level of the first liquid. When the layer of the liquid to be detected increases to a given thickness, the detecting float sinks by a given distance or amount to permit the ingress of the liquid to be detected into the float, which therefore becomes heavier and sinks further downward. An external float surrounds the detecting float, and is formed with a liquid port at a location slightly below the level of the first liquid for allowing the passage of the liquid which reaches the internally located detecting float, but intercepting the liquid to be detected which is in the form of an oil film.
