  • Publication number: 20080203670
Abstract: A sealing apparatus includes a slinger which includes a cylindrical portion, and radially-extending portions and provided respectively at axially-opposite ends of the cylindrical portion and an elastic member which includes a base portion fixed to a surface of an inner radially-extending portion of a radially-extending core metal member, and a lip portion connected with the base portion. The lip portion is formed by a first axial lip contacting one radially-extending portion of the slinger and a second axial lip contacting the other radially-extending portion of the slinger. The elastic member is formed such that in an axial cross-section, the distance between a cylindrical portion-opposing surface of the elastic member radially opposed to the cylindrical portion and the cylindrical portion is increasing generally uniformly axially outward.

  • Patent number: 7323515
Abstract: The invention relates to a sealing composition which comprises a crosslinkable fluoroelastomer, a crosslinking agent for this elastomer and a reinforcing polyimide resin powder; and seals such as O-rings, made by molding the composition into a prescribed shape and crosslinking the molded article. According to the invention, seals free from metals and sulfur can be made from a fluoroelastomer suitable for the production unit for semiconductor devices without a scatter of physical properties within one seal or among seals, and the obtained seals are lowered in the compression set determined ate the same hardness level to cause little permanent set by compression in use, thus having a prolonged service life.

  • Patent number: 7164559
Abstract: A head actuator is made thinner without sacrificing its strength to thereby achieve the thinning of a hard disk apparatus. On the base end of each of two suspensions is provided a boss that protrudes in the direction of the side on which a magnetic head is provided, and a suspension fixing section having a hole into which the bosses are inserted is formed towards the tip of an arm. The boss of one of the suspensions is inserted into the hole from the upper end section thereof, and the boss of the other suspension is inserted into the hole from the lower end section thereof. Thus, the arm is fixed in place by being held by the two suspensions from above and below.

  • Patent number: 6982851
Abstract: A flying head slider that keeps out dust particles while improving the CFH characteristics, skew dependence characteristics, and linear speed dependence characteristics for achieving a stable fly height. A flying head slider includes a positive pressure generating surface, which includes a leading pad for ensuring pitch stiffness; a pair of side pads, which are positioned behind of the leading pad and to the right and the left for ensuring roll stiffness; and a center pad, which is positioned between the side pads and controls the fly height characteristics. Furthermore, the flying head slider includes steps, which are at a lower height than the positive pressure generating surfaces and extend from the front of the slider toward side edges thereof in order to prevent dust particles from entering an area between the flying head slider and a disk surface.

  • Patent number: 6676132
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to improve sealing performance of a seal under a specific environment. The seal is arranged in an annular space A in which a rotary shaft 1 and a housing 2 face each other, and partitions the annular space in axial direction into a vacuum space B and an atmospheric pressure space C. The seal is constituted such that a main lip 6 of the seal has an axial contact width W0 with which the main lip slides on and contacts with the rotary shaft 1 and which is set to be equal to or larger than an axial contact width W1 necessary to secure minimum sealing performance with respect to a sealed portion and equal to or smaller than an axial contact width W2 with which sliding resistance against the rotary shaft becomes a permissible upper limit, to thereby prevent the axial contact width W0 from influencing rotation characteristics with respect to the rotary member and to allow securing required sealing performance.

  • Patent number: 6369989
Abstract: The invention disclosed herein provides reduced cost for manufacturing a swing arm for magnetic disc. The swing arm for magnetic disc comprises a plurality of arm members, the arm members comprising a top arm member, at least one or more intermediate arm members, and a lower arm member. Each of the arm members includes a cylindrical portion having large diameter upper and small diameter lower cylindrical portions. The cylindrical portions of the intermediate, and lower arm members include a fitting hole, in which a bearing device is fitted for supporting a spindle, the fitting holes comprising a large diameter bore, and a small bore into which the bearing is fit, respectively. The small diameter cylindrical portions of the top, and intermediate arm members are fitted into the large diameter hole of the intermediate arm members, and the lower arm members, respectively. Thereby, the arm members are connected with each other so that a swing arm for magnetic disc is formed in integrally forming relation of them.

  • Patent number: 5390519
Abstract: A method for manufacturing long products from a lengthy plate-like material having an appreciably small thickness by press working is disclosed in which the plate-like material is fed in succession into the press working stages of a single press unit carrying out a centering process, a bending process, a coining process, a sizing process, perforating process, and a final shearing process. The material having passed these press working processes is formed into long products having various required lengths and various required number of perforations formed therein. The spacing of the perforations are kept constant irrespective of changes in the thickness and width of the material.

  • Patent number: 4913416
Abstract: An automatic document transportation device has a rotatably supported guide piece at the junction between a document feeding route through which an incoming document sheet to be processed is passed to a scanning position and a discharge route through which the processed document sheet, moving backwards from the scanning position, travels to be discharged. The guide piece normally assumes a downward position by its own weight, thereby blocking the feeding route in such a way that the incoming document sheet can cause it to rotate and travel past it but the outgoing sheet, moving in the opposite direction, is deflected by it into the discharge route.
