  • Patent number: 5661701
Abstract: Optical pickup apparatus using split beams impinging on different photo-detector areas includes optical structure for projecting a light beam polarized in a predetermined direction toward a recording medium where information is recorded. Optical separating structure is provided for dividing a light beam reflected by the recording medium, with modulation of its polarization state in accordance with the recorded information, into first and second light beams which are polarized in directions perpendicular to each other. First and second light detectors respectively detect the first and second light beams. Preferably, a single lens is located between the separation structure and the first and second light detectors for converging the first and second light beams. Also preferably, the first and second light detectors are formed on the same substrate and are each divided into a plurality of light receiving areas.

  • Patent number: 5632738
Abstract: The present invention relates to a so-called "natural dripping" type plastic container by which medicinal fluids are administered by deformation of the flat shaped body. During natural dripping the accumulation capability for the contained fluids is large and the deformation based on back pressure avoids the occurrence of dead space. In the plastic blow container for medicinal fluids of this invention, in the cross-sectional shape of a flat shaped body the long axis width is more than 2.0 times the short axis width, at the upper end of the body a suspending mechanism is formed, and at the outer of the lower end of the body an opening means is formed, the bottom cross-section of the body on the short axis side the shape of parallel faces is formed as a wedge, while the parallel faces on the long axis side are formed with a tapered funnel shape toward the opening means.

  • Patent number: 5416755
Abstract: An optical pickup device for producing information magnetically recorded on a recording medium includes a light source for generating a light beam polarized in a predetermined direction. An object lens is provided for focusing the light beam generated from the light source onto the recording medium. A beam splitter is arranged in an optical path extending from the light source to the recording medium, the beam splitter having a reflection plane for reflecting the light beam from the light source toward the recording medium. The beam splitter simultaneously causes the reflecting light from the recording medium to pass through the reflection plane to separate the reflected light beam from the light beam irradiated toward the recording medium. The polarization state of the reflecting light beam is modulated in accordance with the recorded information.

  • Patent number: 4929994
Abstract: A solid-state imaging device uses an MIS light-receiving device having a multilayer film structure. The multilayer film structure is constituted in such a manner that intermediate films are interposed between a gate electrode disposed on a surface of a semiconductor with a gate insulating film therebetween. A protection film is formed above the gate electrode, and/or between the gate electrode and the gate insulating film. Each intermediate film has a refractive index of a value between those of the materials forming the above components. As a result of the thus-constituted multilayer film structure, light transmissivity can be improved, causing a reduction in deterioration in light sensitivity. Consequently, a solid-state imaging device, which has a highly sensitive MIS light-receiving device, can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 4857981
Abstract: A semiconductor imaging device includes lateral MOS static induction transistors including: a semiconductor layer formed on an insulating substrate or a high-resistance semiconductor substrate; and picture elements arranged in the form of a matrix over the surface of the semiconductor layer, the picture elements respectively constituted by lateral MOS static induction transistors each having a source region and a drain region both of which serve as main electrodes and a gate region for storing therein a photoelectric signal. Isolating regions are formed between the respective picture elements vertically or laterally on the matrix so that the picture elements which are adjacent to each other vertically or laterally share their source and drain regions with each other. Accordingly, each of the gate regions constitutes in combination with the adjacent source or drain region an equivalent unit picture element, thereby improving the density of picture-element formation.
