  • Patent number: 4460036
Abstract: A multizone air-conditioning system for a motor vehicle includes a single air-conditioning unit and an air distribution conduit. The air distribution conduit has multiple conduit portions with outlets respectively open to horizontally spaced apart zones of the passenger compartment. Each outlet has a switching damper for diverting a variable amount of conditioned airflow in response to a feedback control signal to vertically spaced apart zones of the compartment to automatically operate the system in one of different air-conditioned modes. The control signal is derived from temperature measurement data and a reference setting establised with respect to each horizontally spaced apart zone. The air-conditioning unit includes air mixing dampers respectively located in the conduit portions and a heating radiator having half portions thereof located respectively downstream of the mixing dampers.

  • Patent number: 4269931
Abstract: An improved support comprising (A) a base plate and (B) an adhesive layer formed on the surface of the base plate is provided for making a printing plate from a liquid photosensitive resin. The improvement resides in the inclusion of a tertiary phosphite or tertiary phosphine in the adhesive layer. The improved adhesive layer acts to give reliefs of a good shoulder shape, and this action can be retained over long periods of time.In an alternative embodiment, an activating layer (C) containing a tertiary phosphite or tertiary phosphine is formed on the adhesive layer.

  • Patent number: 4066624
Abstract: A process for preparing polyesters, which comprises reacting (A) a difunctional carboxylic acid component containing at least 50 mol% of a naphthalene dicarboxylic acid and/or its ester-forming derivative, (B) a diol component containing an aromatic group and at least 50 mol% of a 4,4'-bis-(.omega.-hydroxyalkoxy)diphenylsulfone and (C) an aliphatic or alicyclic diol component, the molar ratio of component (B) to component (A) being 0.05-1, and the molar ratio of the sum of components (B) and (C) to component (A) being 1.1-3.0; and then polymerizing the resulting reaction product in the presence of a catalyst while distilling off the excess of the component (C) out of the reaction system, thereby to form a polymer having a reduced viscosity of at least 0.5.

  • Patent number: 3984379
Abstract: According to this invention, during the formation of a fiber-forming polyester by the reaction of a dicarboxylic acid or its functional derivative with a glycol, an aromatic ortho-ester such as hexaphenyl ortho terephthalate is added to the molten polyester whereby a fiber-forming polyester of a low content of free carboxyl groups and diethylene glycol units is prepared. Moreover, the reaction rate of the polycondensation is greatly increased by selecting and using a suitable aromatic ortho-ester and thus there can be obtained a fiber-forming polyester of a very high molecular weight.
