Abstract: A disk array controller has a function of relocating a plurality of data blocks stored in a disk array. The controller includes a read unit which reads data blocks to be relocated from the disk array, a determining unit which determines whether an error has occurred in the to-be-relocated data block read by the read unit, a write unit which writes the to-be-relocated data block read by the read unit in a relocating destination position on the disk array which corresponds to the to-be-relocated data block if the determining unit determines that the error has not occurred in the to-be-relocated data block, and a unit which sets error information with respect to the relocating destination position if the determining unit determines that the error has occurred in the to-be-relocated data block, the error information causing occurrence of an error in response to read access of the relocating destination position.

  • Publication number: 20050097390
Abstract: There is disclosed a RAID control apparatus which copies data to a copying-target disk drive from the first or second disk drive by use of a rebuilding function in a disk array system including the first and second disk drives. The RAID control apparatus replaces a disk drive to be copied with the second disk drive, when the first disk drive fails during execution of a copying operation using the first disk drive as the disk drive to be copied.

  • Publication number: 20050097389
Abstract: An array controller includes a maximum address storage unit and a data restoration unit. The maximum address storage unit stores a maximum address, which is a maximum one of the addresses of data-written areas of the disk drives of a disk array. If one of the disk drives malfunctions, the data restoration unit generates data corresponding to the malfunctioning disk drive on the basis of the data stored in the first areas of the remaining disk drives and arranges the generated data in a second area. The second area corresponds to the first areas and is part of the new disk drive used in place of the malfunctioning disk drive. The first area is an area defined between the start address of the remaining disk drives and the maximum address stored in the maximum address storage unit.

  • Publication number: 20050081088
Abstract: If one of the disk drives of a disk array malfunctions, the read unit of an array controller reads data from the remaining disks, so as to restore the data of the malfunctioning disk drive to the original state and provided this restored data in a new disk drive. If a media error occurs during this data read operation, an error data write unit writes media error-causing information, which causes a media error when the area of the new disk drive corresponding to the media error is read. The media error-causing information is written, for example, in the area of the new disk drive.

  • Patent number: 6006728
Abstract: A fuel injection system having no fuel leakage and a high speed response includes both an outlet opening of a fuel supply passage 44 and an inlet opening 59 of an injection passage 56 are provided facing to a communication space 54 formed on the one end face of a valve box 51. A diaphragm 62 seals the communicating space of a valve box 51. A ridge 64 of the diaphragm 62 shuts the supply passage and injection passage. A valve body 70 driven by a solenoid coil 65 is combined with the diaphragm 62. The valve body 70 is pressed by a plate spring 71. While a current is not supplied to the solenoid coil 65, the plate spring 71 presses the valve body 70, and the ridge 64 of the diaphragm 62 closes the inlet opening 59 of the injection passage 56. Fuel is not injected. While a current is supplied to the solenoid coil 65, the valve body 70 is attracted toward a magnetic core 66.

  • Patent number: 5975055
Abstract: Air pressure which is proportional to the rotation speed of an engine is generated in a crank chamber 2 during operation. The crank chamber 2 is communicated to a fuel tank 10 having sealed structure with interposition of a check valve 25. Air pressure which is proportional to the rotation speed of the engine is applied to fuel in the fuel tank 10. The fuel tank 10 is communicated to the fuel injection system 30. The fuel injection system 30 opens its injection orifice only when power is supplied to a solenoid coil and injects supplied fuel into a combustion chamber. Because air pressure which is proportional to the rotation speed of the engine is applied to fuel, through each fuel injection time is constant, fuel which is proportional to the rotation speed can be injected. In particular, a shorter injection time is sufficient for high rotation speed operation in comparison with conventional fuel injection time, thereby power consumption of the fuel injection system 30 is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5041152
Abstract: A glass tube bending apparatus according to the present invention includes a drum for bending a heated/softened glass tube into a circular shape, a first driving device, coupled to the drum, for moving the drum straight, and a second driving device, coupled to the drum, for rotating the drum in a direction, and a control for independently controlling the rotating speed and the moving speed of the drum. According to this apparatus, the operation speeds of rotating and moving of the drum can be controlled independently. Therefore, distortion of glass tubes can be decreased, and thermal bending of tubes can be performed with high precision. Further, various sorts of glass tubes can be treated. Still further, since the first driving device and the second driving device are operated in synchronism, the precision of the thermal bending of glass tubes is enhanced.
