  • Patent number: 4843408
Abstract: A thermal recording device thermally records an image on a recording paper in the form of image segments gradated according to image information to collectively form the image. A thermal head has heating elements arranged in a row and activated to mark a row of dots on a recording paper. The thermal head is line-sequentially driven in the direction transverse to the row of dots to mark columns of dots to form a row-and-column arrangement of the dots such that the row-and-column arrangement is divided into a plurality of dot matrixes to define a plurality of corresponding image segments. A control circuit applies a control signal to the thermal head according to the image information to selectively activate the heating elements to thereby selectively mark dots in different densities during the line-sequential driving of the thermal head so that a specific pattern of selectively marked dots having different densities is formed within respective ones of the dot matrixes to gradate the image segments.

  • Patent number: 4430112
Abstract: A powdered raw material feeding device is mounted beside a glass melting tank for feeding the powdered raw materials of glass onto a surface of molten glass in the tank. The raw materials thus riding on the molten glass are forced to move in the downstream direction in response to the feeding of the raw materials to the tank. An obstruction device is stationarily mounted in the way of a heap of the raw materials on the molten glass so that an extreme end of the obstruction device is embedded in the heap of the raw materials on the molten glass at a position near the laterally central position of the path of the heap, whereby upon movement of the heap in the downstream direction, a certain magnitude of flow resistance is applied to the heap of the raw materials.

  • Patent number: 4224918
Abstract: Cylinder head construction defining a hemispheric combustion chamber which includes a guide wall provided to impart swirl to the incoming air-fuel mixture. The guide wall facing the intake port defined by the cylinder head construction and generally parallel to the line of action of an intake valve provided in the intake port has a height greater than the maximum lift of the intake valve, and decreases in width in the direction of opening of the intake valve. In addition, the size of the area and the position of the guide wall relative to the intake port and the intake valve are maintained in specific ranges, and thus the construction not only permits efficient ignition of a lean air-fuel mixture, but at the same time causes only a slight drop in engine performance.
