  • Publication number: 20190364388
Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a network node for handling positioning of a wireless device in a wireless communication network. The network node determines a set of service areas in which positioning of the wireless device is requested. Furthermore, the network node transmits a request for positioning of the wireless device to a controlling network node, which request comprises an indication of the set of service areas. Also, the network node receives a response from the controlling network node indicating whether the wireless device is positioned within the set of service areas or not.

  • Publication number: 20190261308
Abstract: Methods and device for use in a wireless device of reporting positioning measurements comprises receiving network assistance information from a network node. The network assistance information is for assisting the wireless device in performing Observed Time Difference Of Arrival (OTDOA), and comprises: a list of reference cells; a list of neighbor cells; and a rule for terminating Reference Signal Time Difference (RSTD) measurements. The method further comprises performing RSTD measurement between a cell in the reference cell list and a cell in the neighbor cell list. Upon determining the RSTD measurement satisfies the rule for terminating RSTD measurements, the method includes reporting the RSTD measurements to the network node. Upon determining the RSTD measurement does not satisfy the rule for terminating RSTD measurements, performing another RSTD measurement between the cell in the reference cell list and a cell in the neighbor cell list.

  • Publication number: 20170097404
Abstract: In one aspect of the teachings herein, a wireless communication network includes two or more radio transmission points sharing the same Physical Cell Identity, PCI, and the network provides a User Equipment, UE, with positioning assistance data indicating the muting patterns used by respective ones of the transmission points for transmitting Positioning Reference Signals, PRS. The respective transmission points sharing the same PCI both transmit PRS identified by the shared PCI, but the transmissions are differentiated as a consequence of the respective muting patterns. Correspondingly, the UE exploits the positioning assistance data from the network, to make PRS measurements that are differentiated with respect to the transmission points sharing the same PCI. Differentiating between PRS as received from the different transmission points sharing the same PCI yields more accurate positioning, whether the positioning is done by the UE, or by the network based on receiving measurements from the UE.

  • Publication number: 20160227370
Abstract: A wireless device (304) and a method therein for providing location information to a Radio Network Node, RNN, (306) or a Network Node, NN, (308,310). The wireless device, the RNN and the NN are operating in a wireless communications network (300). The wireless device receives, from the RNN or the NN, a request for Beacon Location Information, BLI. The wireless device obtains BLI from a beacon, wherein the BLI comprises information relating to a location of the beacon, which beacon is located in reach by the wireless device. The wireless device transmits the obtained BLI to the RNN or the NN.

  • Publication number: 20160157053
Abstract: Positioning user equipment served by a base station in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The method comprises obtaining a timing value used by the user equipment for timing adjustment of uplink signal transmission and a timing bias used for adjusting the timing value. The method also comprises adjusting the timing value based on the timing bias. The method further comprises determining the position of the user equipment based on the adjusted timing value, wherein the timing bias is associated with at least one difference between at least one timing value obtained from at least one previous user equipment served by the base station and at least one timing value obtained from the base station with respect to the at least one previous user equipment. By means of the method and device, the positioning of the user equipment can be accurately achieved and less overhead could be incurred.

  • Publication number: 20150282114
Abstract: A method in a first radio base station of a wireless communication system, for transmitting a reference signal for positioning in a cell. The cell is hosted by the first radio base station and served by a plurality of transmission points. Each transmission point is associated with a value of a first attribute indicating whether transmission of the reference signal for positioning is enabled for the associated transmission point. The method comprises selecting at least one transmission point among the plurality of transmission points based on the values of the first attribute, and transmitting the reference signal for positioning in the cell from the selected at least one transmission point only.

  • Publication number: 20140206388
Abstract: The present invention relates to positioning in a communication network. In Long Term Evolution, LTE networks the positioning server E-SLMC needs routing information in order to communicate with individual base stations, eNodeBs. For LTE networks configured with one Mobility Management Entity, MME or one pool of MMEs, the routing information can be obtained by interrogating the MME or an arbitrary MME in the MME pool. However, if the network is configured with several MME pools serving different sets of eNodeBs, the E-SLMC has now knowledge of which MME or MME pool that is serving a certain eNodeB. The invention includes a method and a position server (111) configured to quickly determine which MME pool (120,130) is serving a certain eNodeB (141-153) so that the relevant routing information necessary for the positioning server (111) to communicate with the eNodeBs (141-153) is obtained.

  • Publication number: 20140018098
Abstract: A method in a first radio network node for handling position measurements is provided. The first radio network node receives from a second radio network node a position measurement associated with a user equipment, and a system frame number. The system frame number is associated with the second radio network node. The system frame number is further related to a point in time when the position measurement was performed. The first radio network node calculates a position estimate of the position of the user equipment based on the position measurement. The first radio network node defines a time stamp which is based on the received system frame number. The first radio network node then signals to a third radio network node a positioning response. The positioning response comprises the position estimate and the time stamp.
