    Abstract: A method for positioning reference signal configuration comprises receiving, from a network node, one or more first positioning reference signals in a first PRS configuration; performing one or more first measurements on the first PRS to determine one or more first characteristics of the one or more first PRSs; sending, to the network node, a second PRS configuration determined based on the one or more first characteristics; receiving, from the network node, a third PRS configuration, wherein the third PRS configuration comprises one or more third PRSs having at least one different signal characteristic than the one or more first characteristics of the first PRS; and performing one or more second measurements on the one or more third PRSs. The method provides a dynamic configuration for PRS based on the feedback from the UE and a location node, beamforming configuration, or any requirements for physical layer efficiently.

    Abstract: In one aspect of the teachings herein, a wireless communication network includes two or more radio transmission points sharing the same Physical Cell Identity, PCI, and the network provides a User Equipment, UE, with positioning assistance data indicating the muting patterns used by respective ones of the transmission points for transmitting Positioning Reference Signals, PRS. The respective transmission points sharing the same PCI both transmit PRS identified by the shared PCI, but the transmissions are differentiated as a consequence of the respective muting patterns. Correspondingly, the UE exploits the positioning assistance data from the network, to make PRS measurements that are differentiated with respect to the transmission points sharing the same PCI. Differentiating between PRS as received from the different transmission points sharing the same PCI yields more accurate positioning, whether the positioning is done by the UE, or by the network based on receiving measurements from the UE.

    Abstract: Positioning user equipment served by a base station in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The method comprises obtaining a timing value used by the user equipment for timing adjustment of uplink signal transmission and a timing bias used for adjusting the timing value. The method also comprises adjusting the timing value based on the timing bias. The method further comprises determining the position of the user equipment based on the adjusted timing value, wherein the timing bias is associated with at least one difference between at least one timing value obtained from at least one previous user equipment served by the base station and at least one timing value obtained from the base station with respect to the at least one previous user equipment. By means of the method and device, the positioning of the user equipment can be accurately achieved and less overhead could be incurred.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to positioning in a communication network. In Long Term Evolution, LTE networks the positioning server E-SLMC needs routing information in order to communicate with individual base stations, eNodeBs. For LTE networks configured with one Mobility Management Entity, MME or one pool of MMEs, the routing information can be obtained by interrogating the MME or an arbitrary MME in the MME pool. However, if the network is configured with several MME pools serving different sets of eNodeBs, the E-SLMC has now knowledge of which MME or MME pool that is serving a certain eNodeB. The invention includes a method and a position server (111) configured to quickly determine which MME pool (120,130) is serving a certain eNodeB (141-153) so that the relevant routing information necessary for the positioning server (111) to communicate with the eNodeBs (141-153) is obtained.
