  • Publication number: 20030204465
Abstract: A method and system of evaluating values of different payment or delivery terms in online auctions, including obtaining an interest rate and a period from a buyer for a lot, the lot having a predetermined value, receiving a first bid from a first bidder and a second bid from a second bidder on the lot, the first and second bids each having a payment time and a rebate and transforming the first bid into a first value and the second bid into a second value using the interest rate, the period, and the predetermined value from the buyer, and the payment times and rebates from the first and second bidders.

  • Publication number: 20030196890
Abstract: In a magnetron sputtering chamber, a substrate is placed in the chamber and a deposition shield is maintained about the substrate to shield internal surfaces in the chamber. The deposition shield has a textured surface that may be formed by a hot pressing process or by a coating process, and that allows the accumulated sputtered residues to stick thereto without flaking off. An electrical power is applied to a high density sputtering target facing the substrate to form a plasma in the chamber while a rotating magnetic field of at least about 300 Gauss is applied about the target to sputter the target. Advantageously, the sputtering process cycle can be repeated for at least about 8,000 substrates without cleaning the internal surfaces in the chamber, and even while still generating an average particle count on each processed substrate of less than 1 particle per 10 cm2 of substrate surface area.

  • Publication number: 20030185239
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, for forming a UDP-Lite, or other, data packet with multiple, dynamically-selected, checksum-protected parts. Digitized data is provided to a formatter, and the formatter forms the data packet to include header fields identifying parts of the payload portion of the data packet that are checksum-protected with different checksums. Additional indicia is contained in the header part of the data packet to identify the checksum-type and the checksum-values associated with the separate parts of the data packet. Multiple, contiguous parts of the data packet are checksum-protected with selectable checksum-types, selected by a selector that operates to control operation of the formatter.

  • Patent number: 6625909
Abstract: A coupler (11) for connecting a dipper arm (3) of an excavator to a bucket (1) without need for the operator of the excavator to leave the cab of the excavator, the coupler (11) having a device for connecting it to the end of the dipper arm (3), and a latching hook (17) for connecting it to a bucket (1), wherein the latching hook (17) has a special internal profile (56, 57, 61) so that when it is supporting the weight of a bucket (1), it will tend to move to a latching position, not to an unlatching position.

  • Publication number: 20030154636
Abstract: The coupler has a pair of spaced side frames (25a) in each of which a first hook like aperture (13) is provided for engagement with a first pivot pin provided on an excavator bucket and wherein a locking pin (23) is moveable from and into a locking position in which it prevents the latching hook (17a) from disengage from a second pivot pin (9a), (9b) or (9c) on the bucket there being a plurality of locking positions for the pin to accommodate different buckets. Preferably, a plurality of spaced apertures (27), (29), (31) are formed on each of the side frames (25a), those in one frame being transversely aligned with those in the other frames, and preferably also a plurality of spaced apertures (33, 35) and/or latching surfaces are formed on the latching hook or on an extension thereof, through or against which the locking pin (23) can be passed or can bear to prevent relative movement between the hook (17a) and side frames.

  • Patent number: 6588187
Abstract: Row unit lift structure includes electrohydraulic proportional valves connected to an electronic controller which receives inputs from a manual raise/lower switch, a rate response potentiometer, and height control potentiometers in the cab. Signals are also received from row unit height sensing transducers, a tachometer and shaft rotation sensors. When the units are lowered and operational, the controller compares the signals from the height sensing transducers with the signals from the height control potentiometers and sends an electrical control signal to the proportional valves to maintain a selected row unit height. The magnitude of the control signal and thus the rate of correction of height are determined by the rate response potentiometer and the amount of variation between the actual and desired row unit height.

  • Publication number: 20030035441
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, for providing a radio link layer control procedure to maintain the sensitivity of UDP-Lite-formatted data at an RLP (Radio Link Protocol), or other, layer. An indicator generator generates an indication of the sensitivity-type of data that is formatted at the RLP layer. An RLP packet is generated, including the sensitivity data indicator value, and sent to a receiving station. When received thereat, the value of the sensitivity data indicator is utilized and subsequent actions, whether to permit retransmission of the data in the event of erroneous-, or non-, delivery is made.

  • Patent number: 6481124
Abstract: A coupler (11) for connecting a dipper arm (3) of an excavator to a bucket (1) without the need for the operator of the excavator to leave the cab of the excavator, the coupler (11) having means for connecting it to the end of the dipper arm, and means, including a latching hook (17) for connecting it to one of a plurality of different buckets (1) and wherein locking means (25) is provided to prevent inadvertent unlatching of the latching hook (17), said locking means (25) being operable from the cab. The locking means may be gravity operated and include resiliently deformable means (27), thereon to prevent unlatching when the coupler (11) is inverted. Alternatively, it may be spring (71) operated in which case, further means (73, 75) is provided to move the locking means against the bias of the spring. Preferably, the hook (17) has a special internal profile (56, 57, 61) so that when it is supporting the weight of a bucket, it will tend to move to a latching position, not to an unlatching position.

  • Patent number: 6457752
Abstract: A locking window. The window includes a window frame including a window sash which is selectively movable between a first closed position and a second open position. A window latch is adapted to be attached to the window and is selectively movable between a first open position and a second locked position to secure the window sash in the closed position. The window latch includes a sweep latch, which is preferably offset, and a non-compressible pivot fastener for attaching the window latch to the window. The offset arrangement provides sufficient space for substantially unequal length actuator and locking arms to provide a mechanical advantage when the window latch is operated. The pivot fastener includes a support bushing and a fastener extending through the support bushing for attaching the offset sweep latch to the window.

  • Patent number: 6186096
Abstract: A pet chew toy is generally bone-shaped having an elongated body member with a bulbous knob at each end. The body member has a hollow cavity along its axis and an opening at one end. A screw rod is positioned along an axis of the body member and is affixed to the one knob located at the end opposite the cavity opening. A hard chewable food product which has a non-circular cross-section that corresponds to the shape of the cavity is threaded onto the screw rod. An internal bore within the food product includes internal threads which are compatible with the threads of the screw rod. The chew product may also be of a soft enough material that it is self-threading, that is to say that, the screw rod creates thread in a smooth internal bore of the food product when it is initial introduced into the body member. When the two opposing knobs are rotated with respect to each other the screw rod is turned.
