  • Patent number: 9290220
Abstract: A self-propelled device determines an orientation for its movement based on a pre-determined reference frame. A controller device is operable by a user to control the self-propelled device. The controller device includes a user interface for controlling at least a direction of movement of the self-propelled device. The self-propelled device is configured to signal the controller device information that indicates the orientation of the self-propelled device. The controller device is configured to orient the user interface, based on the information signaled from the self-propelled device, to reflect the orientation of the self-propelled device.

  • Patent number: 9161884
Abstract: A process for providing a predetermined quantity of a particulate material in which the particulate material is deposited on a defined area of a sticky surface of a substrate. The process is suitable for deposition of particulate drug material on a substrate such as a strip form substrate which can then be compacted to provide a delivery device for delivering the predetermined quantity of the particulate material. Such a delivery device, and an apparatus to perform the process, comprise further aspects of the invention.

  • Patent number: 8874850
Abstract: A hierarchically tagged cache provides abstraction between access requests for data and the cached data. The cache is managed by hierarchical layers of indexes including reference to the data. Access requests indicate a header for the requested data, which is associated with one of the layers. Cache management determines what layer is associated with the header, and can traverse the indexes, beginning at the layer associated with the header, to access the data. If the header does not exist at the index of that layer, it can be created. Indexes can be appropriately updated with indexes at each layer being referenced by one or more indexes of the layer higher up in the hierarchy.

  • Patent number: 8825963
Abstract: A storage system provides highly flexible data layouts that can be tailored to various different applications and use cases. The system dynamically balances performance with block sharing, based on service level objectives (SLOs). The system defines several types of data containers, including “regions”, “logical extents” and “slabs”. Each region includes one or more logical extents. Allocated to each logical extent is at least part of one or more slabs allocated to the region that includes the extent. Each slab is a set of blocks of storage from one or more physical storage devices. The slabs can be defined from a heterogeneous pool of physical storage. The system also maintains multiple “volumes” above the region layer. Each volume includes one or more logical extents from one or more regions. Layouts of the extents within the regions are not visible to any of the volumes.

  • Publication number: 20140140166
Abstract: A container has elastomeric sheets defining a periphery with four sides. A seal extends about the periphery defining a closed chamber. A separator extends across the closed chamber dividing the closed chamber into a first compartment and a second compartment. The separator includes a rod for wrapping the sheets around the rod to define a dividing portion. A retainer clip presents an inner wall clamped about the dividing portion providing an impermeable closure between the sheets. The sheets define at least two aligned and spaced pockets separated by a gap whereby removing the rod from the retainer clip and inserting the rod into the pockets extending across the gap and clamping the retainer clip over the rod to define a handle. The present invention also includes a method for mixing a first component and a second component in the container and releasing the components.

  • Publication number: 20130039488
Abstract: The increase in popularity of Internet-based computing services for delivery of their information technology (IT) capability has also created dependences for the user to access their IT facilities and be able to work. The current invention provides solutions to these dependences using a system with a convenient, highly portable data storage device that when connected to a general purpose computer that has access to the internet, provides the user the ability to access and work on large, complex tasks and files on their internet-based IT facilities while simultaneously maintaining the security and integrity of the information and data transmitted over the internet between the user and their IT facilities.

  • Publication number: 20120270661
Abstract: Game mechanics may be incorporated into a web site, mobile site, and/or app using an automated access, self-serve platform. A user interface may be generated based on input provided by or on behalf of a publisher of a site and/or app. The user interface may be configured to be incorporated with the site and/or app. An economy governing game mechanics associated with the user interface may be defined. The user interface may be provided for integration with the site and/or app. Integration of the user interface with the site and/or app may provide the game mechanics to the site and/or app. In some implementations, generating the user interface may include generating, at a gamification server, a widget configured to provide the user interface, the site and/or app being provided by a site server, the gamification server being separate and distinct from the site server.
