  • Publication number: 20190107353
Abstract: A handgun sear has a sear body extending between a proximal end portion to a distal end portion. The sear defines a first engagement surface adjacent the proximal end portion and a second engagement surface positioned distally of the first engagement surface. The sear can pivot about the distal end portion between a cocked position and a displaced position. The second engagement surface can be used to arrest forward movement of the striker in the event of an impulse that causes the striker to disengage from the first engagement surface. The sear may be incorporated into a fire control assembly of a semiautomatic handgun or other firearm.

  • Publication number: 20180286223
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for connecting traffic signal control infrastructure, in-service transit vehicles, and back-end computing and service systems, and providing an adaptable user interface, remotely effecting a change on a Portable Electronic Device (PED), verifying location of transit vehicles and tailoring information to the behavior of a transit operator. System determines an “optimal window” for a transit vehicle to travel through a maximum number of consecutive traffic signals during the green vehicular phase. The system determines and sends a recommended speed to traverse the optimal window. In a case where an optimal window is not possible under current circumstances, the system determines and then advises the driver to remain at the current station for a specified dwell time.

  • Publication number: 20180281993
Abstract: A propulsion system for an orbiting vehicle such as a low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite includes a set of surfaces over which a gas passes during orbital flight, and a plurality of electrodes on the surfaces. The electrodes are configured to create an electric field having a spatial field pattern in response to field signals, experienced by passing gas molecules as an oscillating field having a frequency on the order of a polarization-resonance frequency of the molecules to impart a propulsive traveling-wave dielectrophoretic force to the passing molecules. The electrodes extend over sufficient area to impart sufficient traveling-wave dielectrophoretic force to the gas to overcome aerodynamic drag and thereby sustain orbital flight of the vehicle. A power source applies the field signals to the electrodes, providing sufficient power to overcome power lost to aerodynamic drag and thereby sustain orbital flight.

  • Patent number: 10024628
Abstract: A firearm slide includes a mounting plate that is removably connected to a planar mounting surface of the firearm slide. A rear sight is removably attached to the mounting plate so that different types or styles of rear sights may be used with the firearm. Upon removing the mounting plate itself, various mounting features defined in the planar mounting surface of the slide are exposed. These mounting features can be used to attach any of a variety of accessories (whether a telescopic sight, a red dot sight, a light, or other accessory) directly to the exposed planar mounting surface of the slide.

The safety device may include: a shroud; a coupling mechanism; and a detection device. The coupling mechanism joins the shroud in a displaceable manner to a mechanical motion device. The detection device is configured for communication with the safety control system of a mechanical motion device. The detection device is capable of detecting misalignment of the shroud from its initial aligned position and/or a collision between the shroud and a person or object. The detection device may send a signal to the safety control system of the mechanical motion device to at least slow the movement of the mechanical motion device before the mechanical motion device reaches the location of the collision of the shroud with an object or person.
