Abstract: System and methods are provided relating to bi-manual operation of a touchscreen. Multiple display elements displayed on the touchscreen are selected. A first input to the touchscreen is received defining a datum on the touchscreen, wherein the first input is resultant from sustained contact between a first hand of a user and the touchscreen. A second input to the touchscreen is received defining a reference point on the touchscreen, wherein the second input is resultant from sustained contact between a second hand of the user and the touchscreen. The multiple display elements are positioned to be displayed on the touchscreen in an evenly distributed manner relative to the datum and the reference point.

Abstract: Sound objects are identified within a content item, and location metadata is extracted from the content item for each sound object. A reference layout is generated, relative to a user position, for the sound objects based on the location metadata. A user's gaze is then determined using pupil tracking, body movement data, head orientation data, or other techniques. Using the reference layout, a sound object along a path defined by the gaze of the user is identified, and audio of the identified object is enhanced.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided in which a speaker profile-data inquiry is transmitted to a mobile device associated with a first speaker. In response to the speaker-profile-data inquiry, speaker profile data associated with the first speaker is received. Audio data representing a voice input is received. The first speaker is identified as providing the voice input, the identification being based on a comparison of characteristics of the received audio data with the speaker profile data of a plurality of speakers for whom speaker profile data is stored. An instruction, which includes a speaker-relative signifier, is determined from the received audio data, and determining the instruction includes determining a referent of the speaker-relative signifier based on the first speaker profile data. An action indicated by the instruction is performed.

Abstract: A piling-mounted boat lift locking and strengthening apparatus couples a row of pilings and a lowering/raising platform to form a rigid uni-structure. The apparatus includes a piling mounting bracket assembly (101), a turnbuckle (100) and a positioning indicator assembly (103). It provides the piling-mounted boat lift with an omni-structure that changes the inherent frequency of the assembly. The turnbuckle is designed to mitigate lateral or non-axial loads. An associated bracket assembly enables the apparatus to support the weight of the lift platform. The boat lift exhibits increased rigidity and virtually eliminates angular motion.

Abstract: A lockable safety turnbuckle with a tensioning/compressing device is subjected to an axial tension/compression force to bind, moor, or connect two objects. The device has locking sleeves that allow the device to be unlocked, set, and locked to a desired tension/compression simultaneously. Unlocking the device increases its ability to handle non-axial or lateral loads when binding, mooring, or connecting objects. Locking sleeves not only lock the device from turning, but additionally provide support, stiffness, and stability that bridge the gap between the device's body and the rod ends. This, in turn, allows the turnbuckle to handle increased non-axial, radial or lateral loads. The turnbuckle resists bending or buckling due to the presence of lateral loads, and is safer and more reliable in operation than conventional designs.

Abstract: Sound objects are identified within a content item and location metadata is extracted from the content item for each sound object. A reference layout is generated, relative to a user position, for the sound objects based on the location metadata. If a first sound object is within a threshold angle, relative to the user position, from a second sound object, a virtual position of either the first sound object or the second sound object is adjusted by an adjustment angle.

Abstract: A method of plating substrates may include placing a substrate in a plating chamber comprising a liquid, and applying a current to the liquid in the plating chamber to deposit a metal on exposed portions of the substrate, where the current may include alternating cycles of a forward plating current and a reverse deplating current. To determine the current characteristics, a model of a substrate may be simulated during the plating process to generate data points that relate characteristics of the plating process and a pattern on the substrate to a range nonuniformity of material formed on the substrate during the plating process. Using information from the data points, values for the forward and reverse currents may be derived and provided to the plating chamber to execute the plating process.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for enhanced audio delivery using a device. When a device receives a notification, the device may determine a spatial location to render the notification based on various parameters that are assigned to or derived from the notification. The device may render multiple audio streams and may present those streams to different ears of the user to simulate a spatial origin for the notification.

Abstract: Systems and methods for calendar-based management of QoS parameters of networks are disclosed. Calendar data from a digital calendar is used to identify a scheduled event which utilizes a priority application associated with network priority. A priority level of network service to support performance of the priority application on a device in the network during the scheduled event is determined. A reconfiguration request is transmitted to a networking device of the network. The reconfiguration request causes the networking device to adjust its network QoS parameters according to the priority level of network service and provide a network resource such as bandwidth according to the adjusted network QoS parameters to the priority application during the scheduled event. When the scheduled event has ended, the networking device is instructed to release the network resource.

Abstract: A device and communication software connect controls/features of a vehicle driven by handlebar control, for example, a motorcycle, with a universal handlebar-based control system. Embodiments also provide access to a mobile computing device and operate the mobile computing device through the handlebar-based control system. Aspects of the subject disclosure remove the need for a rider to take their hands off the handlebars and eyes off the road to manipulate a portable computing device or control on-board vehicle functions. The access to the controls/features of a vehicle provides the rider alerts to potential safety events which can be seen through the on-board display of the vehicle or a mobile computing device mounted to the vehicle and connected to the control system.

Abstract: Systems and methods for creating a social content-viewing experience are described herein. In one embodiment, users are located in different physical locations. Each user is viewing a screen in a respective physical location. Content displayed on the screens is synchronized by a media system such that each user is viewing the same media asset. A media asset may be a movie, TV show, sports game, photo, presentation, or video game, to name a few examples. At least one user is using an AR headset. The AR headset displays avatars to represent the other users and displays the avatars in the viewing area of the user wearing the AR headset. For the user wearing the AR headset, the avatars provide a viewing experience that simulates having the other users present in the viewing area.

Abstract: A super-resolution system for nano-patterning is disclosed, comprising an exposure head that enables a super-resolution patterning exposures. The super-resolution exposures are carried out using electromagnetic radiation and plasmonic structures, and in some embodiments, plasmonic structures having specially designed super-resolution apertures, of which the “bow-tie” and “C-aperture” are examples. These apertures create small but bright images in the near-field transmission pattern. A writing head comprising one or more of these apertures is held in close proximity to a medium for patterning. In some embodiments, a data processing system is provided to re-interpret the data to be patterned into a set of modulation signals used to drive the multiple individual channels and multiple exposures, and a detection means is provided to verify the data as written.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for a network inventory service (NIS). An NIS may, for example, profile a private network for personalized advertising by recording a list of devices connected to the private network, recording traffic data for the private network, and generating profile associated with the private network based on the recorded list of devices and the recorded traffic data. The NIS may be notified, e.g., of a device within the private network, an advertising avail, request, from an advertising service, a targeted advertisement based on the user profile, and cause the targeted advertisement to be inserted in the advertising avail. In some embodiments, an NIS may work in conjunction with an inventory profile service (IPS) and/or an ad presentation service (APS). An IPS may deliver rules for analyzing new devices and/or network traffic and an APS may communicate with the NIS along with various advertiser networks to supply personalized ads.

Abstract: A computer implemented method of predicting a future maintenance event of a pumping equipment on a wellbore pumping unit comprising loading a pump usage log and a pump maintenance log into a predictive maintenance model. The predictive maintenance model is trained by a machine learning process with a historical database of completed pumping jobs. The predictive maintenance model determines a probability of a future maintenance event in response to the current pump usage. The unit controller displays an alert of the remaining pump life in comparison to a threshold value for a recommended pump maintenance period or a required pump maintenance period.
