Abstract: A turnable tunnel excavator and tunneling method are provided which can alternate between construction of a main tunnel A and crosscuts B, and can excavate other tunnels without having to pass through an arc. It is comprised of a main machine and an ancillary machine housed inside a pivotable housing within the said main machine and how to operate such a machine.
Abstract: The occurrence of burrs and chips in punching an insulating film is suppressed by adjusting an edge tearing resistance of the insulating film. The edge tearing resistance is preferably 50 to 70 kgf/20 mm for the purpose of suppressing the burrs and the chips.
Abstract: An electric circuit substrate apparatus having a micro-processor for a control of a device is comprised of a substrate, an electric circuit arranged on the substrate and including a rectifier, an electrolysis condenser, a detecting device for detecting the voltage of a current outputted from the electrolysis condenser and the micro-processor which is set to stop the control of the device upon receipt of a signal from the detecting device, and an enclosing device for immersing therein the substrate and the electric circuit, except for a portion of electrolysis condenser, in order that the immersed elements are interrupted from the ambient air.
Abstract: A connecting device is comprised of a first housing having therein a pair of parallely spaced first passages each of which has a proximal end and a distal end, a male terminal accommodated in each of the first passages and having a proximal end to which a first wire is connected and a distal end, a second housing having therein a pair of parallely spaced second passages each of which has a proximal end and a distal end fitted into the distal end of the corresponding first passage, a female terminal accommodated in each of the second passages, having a proximal end to which a second wire is connected and a distal end engaged with the distal end of the corresponding male terminal, and an amount of viscous oily substance positioned in the neighbourhood of a portion at which the distal end of the male terminal and the distal end of the female terminal are in engagement with each other in such a manner of an establishment of conductivity therebetween.
Abstract: A toilet seat has a heater connected to a controller for supplying heating current thereto via a first cable. A thermo-sensor in the toilet seat provides temperature signals to the controller via a second cable. The controller terminates the current to the heater upon the termination of signals from the thermo-sensor. The wires of the second cable have a diameter larger than those of the first cable, so that the wires of the second cable, which provide the temperature signal to the controller, will fail due to bending stresses upon repeated raising and lowering of the toilet seat, before the wires of the first cable. This will cause the controller to terminate the supply of current to the heater.
Abstract: A lavatory seat device includes lavatory seat accommodating a heater and a thermo-sensor for detecting a temperature thereof. First lead wires supply an electric current to the heater. Second lead wires convey a signal from the thermo-sensor. A control circuit controls the heater in response to the thermo-sensor in such a manner that the current supply of the heater is interrupted when the signal from the thermo-sensor becomes a set value or the cutting of the second lead wires is detected. A case has the control circuit therein. A first pivot portion of the lavatory seat has a hole through which the first and second lead wires extend. A second pivot portion of the case is fitting with the first pivot portion to pivot the lavatory seat. A holder holds the first and second lead wires in such a manner that the cutting of the first lead cannot occur prior to the cutting of the second lead wire.
Abstract: A shield excavator excavates a shaft. Then, the excavator is caused to swing to change its posture and excavate a tunnel. Thus, the shaft and the tunnel is continuously excavated by the single machine.
Abstract: A method of driving a private parts washing device incorporated into a toilet bowl for washing the private parts and equipped with a retractable nozzle capable of being extended to the private parts washing position and retracted within the toilet bowl to the retracted position. Washing water is spouted through the spout of the nozzle with the nozzle retracted within the toilet bowl at least either before or after washing the private parts; nozzle washing water is also supplied while the nozzle is at least either being extended or retracted, to wash the outer circumference of the nozzle; and washing water is spouted through the spout of the nozzle after the nozzle has been fully extended and stopped at the private parts washing position, to wash the private parts.
Abstract: A sanitary device includes a electrically operated washing device, an operating switch, a protecting switch and a power supply connected in series to define an operating circuit. The protecting switch is under the control of a control device for detecting a variation in capacitance between two opposed electric conductors, both of which are provided in a toilet seat. Upon detection of a predetermined increase in capacitance between the conductors after a person sits down on the seat, the protecting switch is brought into closure by the control device. Thus, in spite of an unexpected closure of the operating switch due to accidental contact or mischief of a child while no person is on the seat, the washing device will not be actuated.
Abstract: A finger-touch coordinate input apparatus according to the present invention comprises printed circuit boards provided between a display screen and its front frame and having light-emitting and light-receiving element groups thereon, and LED filters provided outside the printed circuit boards at a predetermined distance therefrom, constituting side edges of the display screen, and having light-transmitting portions at part thereof, wherein spaces formed between the printed circuit boards and the LED filters are connected to an air supply source so that an air flow is generated in at least one space, thereby easily and properly eliminating degradation of the detection function due to dust or the like at photodetectors in which the light-emitting and light-receiving elements for coordinate position detection are arranged.

Abstract: A device for washing the posterior parts of the human body includes an electrically operated driving means which moves a nozzle means certainly either to a first position for washing the anal area or to a second position for washing the female genitals, independently of the hydraulic pressure used. The nozzle means can be shifted forward or backward from the first or second position within a given range according to the instruction from the user.
Abstract: An appliance for washing the posterior parts of the human body with water is equipped with an outer nozzle and an inner nozzle that is rotatable inside the outer nozzle. The outer nozzle is provided with holes, while the inner nozzle is formed with a plurality of sets of holes. Any desired one set of the sets of holes in the inner nozzle can be brought into registry with the holes in the outer nozzle by rotating the inner nozzle, whereby the area through which washing water is spurted can be varied.
Abstract: An adjustable bed having a frame in which a movable board and a stationary board are arranged in a planar relationship and the movable board is movable out of the plane of the stationary board by a motor wherein a switch included in a circuit for controlling the motor is turned off by a detector when a portion of a human body is caught between the frame and the movable board during lowering thereof, thereby preventing injury to the body.
