  • Patent number: 4578592
Abstract: A steering wheel assembly with a centralized control system including terminal component such as an input and output member disposed in a center pad of the steering wheel. In this assembly; the terminal component and a computer for controlling said terminal component are disposed in a center pad of the steering wheel, the terminal component being mounted to the center pad in a selectively exchangeable manner. The terminal component may be formed as an exchangable cassette unit. The terminal component is also provided with a variety of switches and/or accessory equipment to thereby permit the same to be readily replaced with another cassette unit in accordance with driver's demands. Therefore, the improved steering wheel assembly of this invention is convenient and it can promptly and easily respond to the user's demands.

  • Patent number: 4378101
Abstract: A stepwise seat slide adjuster for vehicles includes a stationary lower guide rail adapted to be mounted to a vehicle floor, an upper guide rail adapted to be mounted to a vehicle seat and capable of a longitudinally sliding movement relative to the lower guide rail, a manually operated lever having a first pawl pivotally supported on the upper guide rail and releasably engaging any one of the latch teeth formed along the longitudinal edge of the lower guide rail, and a second pawl actuated in response to the release action of the manual lever which disengages the first pawl from the tooth with which it engages, so that the first pawl can backward stepwise slide to a latch tooth which corresponds to a selected seat position and engage with the tooth.

  • Patent number: 4370000
Abstract: A seat for motor vehicles includes a pair of adjustable lateral edges on at least one of the seat cushions and backrest cushions to impart lateral restraint suitable to the occupant, the lateral edges being pivotally mounted on stationary brackets and mechanically connected to each other by a connecting link. One of the lateral edges includes a pawl engageable with one of the teeth provided on one stationary bracket and releasable therefrom upon rotation of one lateral edge in one direction. The rotation of the other lateral edge in the opposite direction causes the selective engagement of the pawl as well as the opposite rotation of one lateral edge, thereby performing the lateral restraint of the seat without any lever or knob projecting out of the seat.

  • Patent number: 4285487
Abstract: A seat-supporting assembly for locking and unlocking an automobile seat in selected vertical positions includes a seat rail, a floor rail, a rotatable latch member, a locking plate and manual lever. The latch member is pivotably mounted at one point to the seat rail and at a second point to the floor rail for permitting the selective adjustment of the relative positions of the rails upon its rotation and includes a plurality of spaced notches. The locking plate is rockably connected to one of the rails and has a pin for engaging a selected one of the notches in the latch member to lock the latch member in a selected position. The lever is rotatably connected to a rail to rock the locking plate to an unlocking position. The assembly includes a spring for urging the locking plate and the lever into a locking position.
