  • Patent number: 7327490
Abstract: The technique of the present invention ensures output of an image subjected to image processing, which does not depend upon the output environment but reflects the color reproduction characteristics of a shooting device and the intention of a photographer in shooting. The process generates an image file that includes picture data generated by a digital still camera, as well as control data and output specification information attached thereto. The control data controls the details of image processing according to the color reproduction characteristics of the camera and the intention of the photographer in shooting. The output specification information specifies, for example, the address of a printing device used as an output resource, the type of printing paper used for printing, and the number of copies. The image file is transmitted to an image processing system on a network.

  • Publication number: 20070296989
Abstract: With a minimal process load, to determine level of the image of an image data file, for image data files of a format that saves images in the form of coefficients of discrete frequency components. Image data that includes a plurality of coefficients representing the pattern of change of color of the image are acquired (Step S10). Multiple sets of basic pattern data that respectively include a plurality of basic coefficients representing basic patterns of color change are prepared. Then, based on a comparison of the two, one set of selected basic pattern data is selected from among the multiple sets of basic pattern data (Step S20). Subsequently, the blur level of the image of the image data is calculated, based on the basic blur level associated with the selected basic pattern data (S30-S70).

  • Patent number: 7289128
Abstract: The image processing device of the present invention maps signal values on saturation segments to corresponding signals on an achromatic axis. In conjunction with this, mapping of color signal present around the saturation segments is mapped while preserving the continuity prior to mapping. The image processing device determines the displacement level entailed in mapping color signal surround a saturation segment so as to be inversely proportional to distance from the saturation segments. Since chroma of signals on the saturation segments change precipitously before and after mapping, by mapping signal surround the saturation segments so as to preserve the continuity of the original signals of signals surround the saturation segments, chroma gradation of signals on the saturation segments and signals around saturation segments can be preserved with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Patent number: 7274487
Abstract: When an sRGB color space and an wRGB color space have a common white point in a device-independent color space, the CPU 31 of a color printer 20 eliminates deviation of the white points of the two color spaces occurring when a color value of the sRGB color space has been converted to a color value of the wRGB color space using a matrix operation L, by correcting the coefficients of matrix L. As a result of correction a matrix L? is obtained. CPU 31 executes gamma correction on the RGB color space color value obtained by a matrix operation S, and then executes matrix operation L?. CPU 31 executes inverse gamma correction on the color value obtained by a matrix operation L?.

  • Publication number: 20070212144
Abstract: When a printing device inputs image data from a memory card, the printing device prints an order sheet whereon are arranged a chart of the image data and setting entry fields for filling in a variety of settings for generating a movie based on these image data. The user uses various marking fields provided on the order sheet to specify the display times for the various image data and the effects to be performed on the various image data. When the printing device uses a scanner to read in the filled-out order sheet, movie data is generated based on the content that is set using this order sheet. • Patent number: 7253923
Abstract: CPU 150 performs a matrix operation on image data GD, and then increases the effective digit place number of the color values of the image data GD to increase the tone number of the image data GD from 8-bit tone to 18-bit tone. CPU 150 performs a gamma correction process, a matrix operation N?1M, and an inverse gamma correction process, and then restores the tone number of the image data GD to the original 8-bit tone, and performs automatic quality adjustment. As a result, the 8-bit tone of the original image data GD is preserved throughout image processing, and reproductive color number of the image data GD is preserved as well.

  • Patent number: 7180632
Abstract: In an image processing apparatus, a desired image processing is applied to an input signal by using a color correction table which changes an amount of conversion for a white point according to the luminance of white provided from an image output apparatus. It is possible to avoid influence of adaptation of the eye by making chromaticity of a target white point (D=O, (xwt, ywt)) close to chromaticity of white of the image output apparatus (D=1, (xwd, ywd)). Further, the target white point after the conversion is made close to a white point of the image output apparatus as luminance of the white provided from the image output apparatus increases. The reason for this constitution is that the human eye tends to adapt to bright light more than to dark light.

  • Patent number: 7167275
Abstract: To provide a method for generating color-correction lookup table for better using a color reproduction area of an output system, an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and a recording medium. An image processing apparatus uses a color-correction lookup table to apply a desired color correction to an input image signal. The image processing apparatus is provided with a color-correction lookup table for chroma enhancement, which applies chroma-enhancement processing to a desired color point in the input image signal in an area where an output system gamut is wider than an input system gamut, and uses the color-correction lookup table for chroma enhancement according to the input image signal for performing the desired color correction. The color-correction lookup table for chroma enhancement does not perform the chroma-enhancement processing when the desired color point is close to achromatic color.
